With Cardwell and Murphy not back we do desperately need a striker. I’d like to see us sign someone who can play a role similar to Dennis.

However I would be over the moon if we signed someone like Cheek or Kelly. Both excellent strikers and would really help us improve and push to get out of this league.

It was the “experienced” part I was referring to. All depends on what everyone’s definition of experienced is. Me personally I would say that’s at least 150/200 matches at this level.

I don’t think I ever referred to him as “experienced”, but I said he has scored goals at this level.

Likely to be Giovanni McGregor or Wes Fonguck then, I’d punt on it being the former though he seems specifically an attacking midfielder rather than the box to box we seem to need in our preferred system.

Anyone know any more about McGregor?

If we are looking at someone with around 200 NL games experience and goals then Cheek fits that description. Josh Kelly is around 100 odd appearances and the others mentioned a little less?

There was certainly a couple of hints - just had a look at their current squad and only one (according to Wikipedia) is UK-based.

However, their manager is Peter Butler so wonder if he has recommended someone?

If we are looking at someone with around 200 NL games experience and goals then Cheek fits that description. Josh Kelly is around 100 odd appearances and the others mentioned a little less?

I think it’s more he’s had experience at scoring in this Lge more than games played so he might of only played 40 but maybe scored 15/20 goals…

There is a more obvious candidate at Maidstone who has been a target of John Still previously when he was at Barnet. 18 in 27 in NLS returning from an injury, under contract as an extension was triggered. Local boy as well I think. Jack Barham. Been mentioned on here before I think. Has played and scored in the NL.

Can imagine if Maidstone started by quoting 100k that will have come as quite a surprise. We were probably in our now more normal 25-40k plus sell on mode..

Anyway that would be my guess.

Pretty much all of the rumours lead me to believe it’s Josh Kelly.

He would be an excellent signing, and perhaps another striker too? Cheek and Kelly? Surely not…

I suspect the manager is not banking on Murphy and Cardwell being ready anytime soon so two strikers are a must in my opinion.
