Transfer News, Gossip & Speculation Summer/Autumn Transfer Targets/Rumours Thread 2022

Little update now I’m back.

I’m led to believe the youngsters, Davis, Benton, Colin & Coker have all put pen to paper on new deals.

Obviously Clifford has signed a new deal, was told of that whilst I was on my way on holiday, and that broke the day after I believe.

The Lopata news confirms what I had heard. Sheffield United won’t loan him out until he signs a new deal, Lopata wants out and won’t sign a new deal. So it’s a case of who blinks first. He does have a partner in this neck of the woods, and loved his time with us, so I think we’d stand a really good chance of picking him up when he becomes available. If he is out of action this season, some interested parties might drop out of the hunt, but we won’t.

The “good news” player was obviously Mussa, and I’m still not sure the full ins and outs but we move onto a new target, and we might have news on that next week. Another midfielder. We have looked into the loan market for another midfielder, who was on loan in this league last season. I don’t know whether we’d get both, or it’ll just be one or the other, but if it is one, it would be the permanent deal as opposed to the loan.

The striker. Talks are still ongoing between us, the Club and the player in question. It isn’t dead in the water just yet, but it will be at the price we were initially quoted. I’d back TL to negotiate a deal, but whether the other Club want to play ball, only time will tell. We do have other options we have looked at in this area.

Mussa scored for Dagenham today in their1-0 friendly !
Mate of mine does the Essex football scene all the time and went to that game last night, reckons Mussa was the best player on the pitch by lightyears.

Also saw three or four Shrimpers there who let's say were quite vocal about the situation so I hear

However that saga is closed and we have to move on. The next target is always around the corner and I want people who are fully sold by the club instead of being swayed by money/agents at the last moment. Those aren't the ones you want in the trenches,

We'll be okay,

Barry.

But they're all swayed by money. It's a job.

Great update mate

I’m glad to see we have signed some good, young, up and coming players however my biggest concern is the lack of experience especially in the middle of the park. We need players who can keep things calm when/if they get challenging. I know it is slightly different but look at when we were in league one with so many young players playing they ended up out of their depth. We also have some players that have stepped up from a lower level and although they have the quality they need the experience alongside them too.
It's funny compared to last season. Too much experience and no potential quality and now all the potential quality and not much experience

How do you measure experience? Harry Taylor for example might only be 25, but he has 171 senior appearances at this level under his belt. Dan Mooney, only 23 but almost 70 appearances at this level plus almost 40 a level below. Just because the average age of the squad decreases, doesn't necessarily mean the "experience" levels plummet with it.

Absolutely spot on.

There seems to be a growing concern about the so called lack of experience in the side. The much admired Brentford success has been built on bringing together a good squad of youngish players, growing and developing them together, although it could take longer, possibly 3 years for success

However putting that aside we have Rhys Murphy aged 31 with 289 Senior appearances to his name, Jason Demetriou aged 34 with 487 games under his belt including 51 at an International level, Steve Arnold aged 33 next month 244 games, and Nathan Ralph joining the 30 brigade in 8 months time, with 202 senior appearances, Thats a staggering 1322 appearances between them

Now add in Cav Miley, 184 appearances at or around this level, aged 27, hardly a chicken. Next up Noor Husin aged 25, 132 appearances, 14 at International level. Taylor bless him has knocked around these leagues for 8 years and now 2 short of 200 appearances. Thats another 514 appearances between them

None of these players are under 23s and if all on the pitch bring 1836 games to the table

Lets also think of the experience in the management group, especially given we have the amazing 3 old Amigos

Poor old Kev is the baby of the group, bottom of the table with just 517 games to his name. Mark Bentley beats the Kev with his lowly 540 games, but on top of the tree is Dazzling Currie with a whopping 614 appearances

Somehow I dont think we need to worry to much about the experience side of things?

People are only saying there is no experience because:

1. They do not know the players with have signed - therefore assuming there is no experience.

2. Basing it off their age - they are too used to Brown's 30+ year old signings that are classed as 'experienced', therefore someone younger obviously can't be

3. We've made signings from lower leagues.
