A guy has chosen to sign for Dagenham instead of us. We're Southend United - this isn't the sort of thing that needs to worry us. Let's move on, and have some faith in our clubs ability to recruit a replacement. They don't look to have done too badly so far.

Spot on

I’m not sure what sort of extras a buying club would want to put into a deal, nor whether this was the deal with Weymouth or deal with the player but such such last minute delaying tactics are not uncommon when a party isn’t ready with the money.

Look for example at how Elon Musk moved the goalposts on his offer to buy twitter after his Tesla stock and bitcoin holdings plummeted in value.
Sorted that for you.

Im hearing that this was a done deal until RM got involved at the end and wanted extras put in the deal and then it went pear shaped. I hear KM wasn't over the moon, but probably wasn't surprised.
If this is the case then shocking to hear but that said pictures, interviews were all done - I would have thought Ron would have got involved before all this happened IF true he gives the final nod on all deals. Based on recent transfers I was of the impression a budget is set out and TL is left to get on with it.

Ultimately, as others have mentioned, if it has gone as far as it sounds like it did, then we move on, don't need players with that level of commitment.

Following VNL Insider on Twitter is better than watching Eastenders. It's gone from a public apology over Tshimanga’s injury to apparent death threats and rocks through his window?!
Everything that account posts is absolute bull****. Made up some rubbish about his car being set on fire the other week. All for attention, best thing to do is just ignore.

I've just seen that Harrison Neal is with the Sheff Utd 1st team squad on the flight to Portugal for pre-season training. We can probably cross him off the possibles now.

Football Club owner taking an interest in how his money (or money he owes) is spent? Shock, horror!

From what I gather Southend & Dagenham put in the same offer

Mussa spoke to Southend, agreed a deal then last minute Dagenham offered more money etc

Could well be that the agent knew he had two offers so was using both against each other to improve the contract, (Terms, clauses, wages, contract term), and it was a case of one club saying no thanks you're taking the ****.

If that was to have happened and let's face it, agents aren't exactly the most respected people within the industry, then fair play to us saying no thanks. It's about time we weren't taken as a push over by agents.

Three potential (and unconfirmed) scenarios... but only the last one bashing Ron gets any comment and it is all negative.

Guys, it may not be anything to do with Ron! I know he's not popular, but let's not hang him before the gallows are built, eh?

I think the last time Ron was involved was to pull the rug from under PB's feet and scupper the Ricky Holmes deal.
My previous comment re Ron was not negative. It is his money that is being spent and he has every right to involve himself whether I like it or not.

Come off it. There is a difference between taking an interest, and interfering/undermining the people you've employed to make those decisions.

The aspect of the deal that he didn't like is something which a) is standard practice nowadays in transfer deals where a club is purchasing a young player who is deemed to have decent potential, especially if from lower down the ladder; b) is something that he has agreed to plenty of times in the past when we've signed players fitting that description, and; c) is something that he has almost always insisted on being part of transfer deals in the past where we are the selling club.

There isn't really any rationale I'm afraid.

Three scenarios but, with respect to Dorset Shrimper whose sources are at the Weymouth end, only one of them from a poster with strong sources at Southend.

If you know the exact details of Ron's (alleged) involvement I will bow to your superior knowledge.
My comment was based on the limited knowledge (if knowledge it was) available at the time I wrote it.

Mussa is bit of ****house to. Verbally agrees to sign and trains with the lads then has last min change of heart (most probably joined Daggers due to better contract). That is your typical modern day footballer I'm afraid.

Totally agree, can't rely on just one player - also, if you put your eggs in one basket and go all out for a top striker who then gets injured, what then?

Seems we are building a side with competition (surely that should be more beneficial than a single player) and not guaranteeing anyone a start.
Like Boreham Wood and Tshimanga. They struggled without him.
