Not bothered if we don't get Mussa there's plenty of players out there! We need a striker that is prolific at this level and if we have to pay then let's hope ron can sort this out. Cheek would be the ideal target scores goals in this division. Look at the teams that went up they went and got prolific strikers to get them out of the division

Grimsby's topscorer got 16. The next highest was 9. Their next highest was a centre back on 8.

It is goals around the whole team that gets you promoted.

You get someone scoring a lot of goals by creating a lot.

Of course it’s easier to say you’ll fix the problem by signing a 25 goal a season player rather than addressing the multiple causes of a team not creating enough.

Totally agree, can't rely on just one player - also, if you put your eggs in one basket and go all out for a top striker who then gets injured, what then?

Seems we are building a side with competition (surely that should be more beneficial than a single player) and not guaranteeing anyone a start.

Following VNL Insider on Twitter is better than watching Eastenders. It's gone from a public apology over Tshimanga’s injury to apparent death threats and rocks through his window?!

Totally agree with that. The teams that do well are the ones with depth and good options all over the pitch, not necessarily the ones with the standout players. You could have the best starting XI in the league with a load of kids on the bench and in reserve. It only takes a few injuries, a few suspensions and some loss of form for the **** to hit the fan.

Could well be that the agent knew he had two offers so was using both against each other to improve the contract, (Terms, clauses, wages, contract term), and it was a case of one club saying no thanks you're taking the ****.

If that was to have happened and let's face it, agents aren't exactly the most respected people within the industry, then fair play to us saying no thanks. It's about time we weren't taken as a push over by agents.
Im hearing that this was a done deal until RM got involved at the end and wanted extras put in the deal and then it went pear shaped. I hear KM wasnt over the moon, but probably wasnt surprised.

What a surprise. RM being greedy and poking his nose in...surely not. 🙄

What a shocker.

If we smelt some dodgy tactics from the agent and were given an ultimatum to come up with some extra dosh last minute despite Mussa training with us and having his interviews, photos etc. done, then I’d have nothing but the utmost respect for the club if we walked away and told him to go and sign for Dagenham.

So much has been made of us doing business the right way and acting with honesty and integrity. You can see that from what’s been said about Tom Lawrence by a lot of clubs we‘ve signed players from. If we clearly weren’t getting the same back from Mussa and his agent, maybe it was us that decided he wasn’t right for us, rather than the other way around.

If true and photos, interview, video etc were done, would love to see what he said about joining us and then compare that to what he says once he has joined Daggers! :Thumbs up:

I’m not sure what sort of extras a buying club would want to put into a deal, nor whether this was the deal with Weymouth or deal with the player but such such last minute tactics are not uncommon when a party isn’t ready with the money.

Look for example at how Elon Musk moved the goalposts on his offer to buy twitter after his Tesla stock and bitcoin holdings plummeted in value.
