ok so a player who has or has not put pen to paper may not be the issue hear .It seemes to me that yet again a greedy agent has swayed the head of a young player .And his previous club should have honered his jioning another club .Its happened before and it will keep happening while there are greedy fat cats ruling what a players does .Agents are the scurge of lower leauge football .

Who said that is the case, and how many times has it benefited us. There are many more just as (in)consistent players with qualities we need. Beside they are just as likely bench warming compared to as much as they play.

I don’t think agents in NL are getting too excited out of a cut of 500/600 quid a week and a 20k sign on fee.

just to let you know our talent scout flew the Southend U nited banner at a match in Germany a few days ago ,Karlsruhr v Werder Bremen ,and before you ask how i know this to be fact because it was my brother who raised the banner there.

We will wait and see, but for what it’s worth personally I do believe Mussa was the imminent signing and also that he’s actually now signed for Daggers. Hopefully this week we will find out either way.

What I would say is that if the reason boils down to a few extra quid for Weymouth, and if Mussa had indeed trained with us then it would seem that it’s firmly not Mussa who has caused the issue here but Weymouth. To let him come here and train, then pull the rug out from under him for the promise of a few extra quid (not even a big amount, by all accounts) is pretty damning from Weymouth.

The only other thing to add is that if we were given a chance to match it, and decided not to (who can blame us given how far down the tracks we were - the club probably couldn’t believe Weymouth would switch at such a late stage with him already training with us) then either we didn’t on principle or because we felt he wasn’t worth the extra dosh. Probably the former I’d think, or that we were never given a chance.

Either way, Weymouth come out of this very badly and I just wonder what the hell Mussa makes of all of this.

Definitely not (IMO, for what I can work out right now) one where he deserves being booed when he turns up in a Daggers shirt.
If he was indeed given permission to train etc at Southend then WFC would have been ok with that

Have you ever thought that once he saw what was on offer he decided to explore options elsewhere or maybe D&R came in with a better deal for both his and indeed WFC maybe something as simple as higher wages for him and better payment options in terms of an identical fee?

We were never going to land all our targets, players have their reasons for going to different clubs. The good thing is we are in there making offers and trying our best to sign quality players. Missing out on a couple isn’t the end of the world. Whether they end up at D&R or Bromley matters not, we move on. Let’s see what this week brings!
That's what I'm saying

Of course I thought about that. There’s quite a range of possibilities here.

Verbal assurances from Weymouth could have been very clear, but then not backed up by some action or other - probably signing the agreement their end (which probably needs to be before the player physically signs with another club).

Just a possibility, but again it might not have been like that. None of us know so we’re doing the classic forum thing and speculating :Thumbs up:

Other things to consider such as length of contract, we seem to be giving out 2 year deals, maybe D&R offered 3 or 4, better goal bonus, etc. Could have been anything.

Personally i'm glad we stuck to our offer and haven't tried to break the structure for a standard NL midfielder

Could well be that the agent knew he had two offers so was using both against each other to improve the contract, (Terms, clauses, wages, contract term), and it was a case of one club saying no thanks you're taking the ****.

If that was to have happened and let's face it, agents aren't exactly the most respected people within the industry, then fair play to us saying no thanks. It's about time we weren't taken as a push over by agents.

Not sure why so many are surprised that a player chooses Narm over Southend…..It happened last summer as well.

As for greedy agents we didn’t moan when Ladapo did the same to Wimbledon to sign for us. Plus most of you would employ an agent if he could squeeze another £300 per week in your pay deal.

Another thing, Dagenham have far better facilities for family’s on match day.
