This has to be Cheek. If he has another year left on his current deal, then I can see Bromley asking for that kinda money even though it’s national league. He has been one of the most consistent strikers at this level for quite a few seasons.

A little update before I go away tomorrow.

It does appear that our “good news” next week won’t be happening, and he’ll be signing for Dagenham. I’m trying to find out what exactly has happened there, because he trained with us, he did his photos, and even the post joining “can’t wait to get started” interview. As far as I was away, he’d signed the deal, but trying to get to the bottom of that.

I know his agent hasn’t exactly covered himself in glory here, and hasn’t made many friends in Essex with his antics.

Also, the striker, that move has stalled. The Club in question are asking for a six-figure fee, for someone whose deal expires at the end of the season. From what I gather, he was keen on us, and the personal terms/medical etc. would have been a formality. If this is something that can be resolved, remains to be seen. Does the player in question kick up a fuss his end, and that gets the deal through at a “reasonable” price? I don’t know. Do we revisit it in January, and hope for a knockdown price then? If we do, do we hold out on signing a new forward until then? Do we use the loan market for a stop gap signing? Or do we move onto another target and forget him? Time will tell.

Not the best update before I go away. However, as the deal with “good news” shows, things change very quickly in football. They say a week is a long time, but 24 hours is a long time in football. Hopefully there is some positive news before I return, but I gather these two were the “closest”.

There are other targets in mind for these positions, so this isn’t the end of the world. It’s a bump along the way.

Can't wait for the people who hailed him as a worldbeater ahead of signing for us now unearth some stats that actually prove he's dreadful and we've had a lucky escape.

I think it has already been said on here by the close contact of cheek that Bromley would command a fee … I still it is cheek he’s played for maher at Chelmsford in the past it makes sense….maybe shepshead can confirm or someone can find his post on this a few weeks back

Why so salty? Anyway we don’t get 1800, 1200 is our hardcore home crowd plus away and it’s average for this level I’m sure you’ll get use to it. You should be worried about your own club if you’re pulling in 5 x the crowd we are and still getting beat to signings, Martin Out has gone quiet since you won a handful of games at the backend of last season, not sure why as he didn’t want to put his hand in his pocket for this signing.

Out of curiosity, say Mussa had put pen to paper on a contract with Southend, and Weymouth did change their mind and go with Dag and Red's offer, could SUFC report to the National League or FA?

Obviously we don't know the ins and outs at the minute to whether he did sign anything, etc, but at the end of the day, a contract is a contract that cannot be ripped up, so I'm just intrigued to what the consequences or what events unfolded.

I’m sure @Shepshead previously said wages would be an issue for Michael Cheek, not just a fee which doesn’t seem to match with the current scenario - although my memory might be letting me down.

Truthfully, I would be amazed if the trial ever takes place. And even if it does get listed it will be years I reckon.

Years? You could be right and that is even before the appeal which may not be heard until two, three, or even four years after the trial should it result in conviction.

I posted that we should look at Umerah yesterday. I know that FL clubs were looking at him though.

Would be a great addition. Strong and powerful with an eye for goal. Can't see that the 20k we put forward for Mussa would be enough to get him though.

We were never going to land all our targets, players have their reasons for going to different clubs. The good thing is we are in there making offers and trying our best to sign quality players. Missing out on a couple isn’t the end of the world. Whether they end up at D&R or Bromley matters not, we move on. Let’s see what this week brings!
