Someone drop a name or two in before this descends massively off topic again please. Anyone seen or heard any rumours?

You might have got it, but a LOT of posters didn’t get it.

I had people questioning my information, and I’ve taken some stick when some bits haven’t come to light, so I can rightly give some stick when I’m right and have been doubted.

I’m more than happy to leave my ITK post behind, and just comment as the fan I am on match threads etc. some people accused me, and other ITK posters, or stirring up the hysteria that has been on here just lately by saying a new announcement is due by then. Maybe that played a part, but Havens made money out of it, and I’m always happy to put my money where my mouth is.

Thankfully, my family & I are away on holiday next week, so I won’t be posting on here then.
No please keep going . We may be impatient but your hints are great

Back on topic...

Had a little purge on Page 1. Hopefully to make way for some new names in the coming days and weeks...

Jettisoned are Saidou Khan and Justin Donowa who I'm not sure we were even in for anyway.

Ben Wynter & Max Kretzschmar are close to going through the trapdoor as well. Will await the announcement of where they both end up soon...

Michael Cheek is another facing the axe from our list, judging by the reliable info on here that he looks to be too costly for us (if we were/are even in for him of course)...same could be said of Alfie Rutherford. Those two will be considered for removal shortly if no further positive noise on them.

The rest are all potential & former loanees, which I wouldn't expect any movement on until mid-late July, if at all.

Clear the decks time!

Josh Kelly was a name thrown about as a potential SUFC target previously, haven't heard much since though.

I believe Wynter is off to Daggers, as for Kretzschmar no idea but not SUFC I don't think.

Not seen any confirmation of Clifford, Benton, Coker, Davis, Ndi accepting contracts so not included them here. As BoyWonder has stated even if they're seen in training it doesn't necessarily mean they will be signing a new deal, as all those out of contract were invited back.

With that being said I think they will agree new terms.

If they do, how many more do we need to add?
Gubbins on loan, a short-term deal for Akinola if he proves his fitness and we're probably only a CM away (Neal🙏) from being finished.

I'd suggest we are a ST short as well, seeing as Cards is on crutches and Murphy only just recovering from an op...Hopefully both can make the start, but the jury appears to be out on that.

If memory serves, he actually looked better wide, than up the middle when Molsely was here.
The reason why I think three up front suits him is played wide (as a winger) I think he lacks a bit defensively. He's certainly not a wing back. He wants to play 9 allegedly but certainly needs to be alongside someone and not sure back to goal or playing off the last shoulder is his thing either- or he has the natural movement/anticipation.

In a front three playing either side he has less defensive duties, benefits from the attacking attributes of his wing play, and is more "down the middle". Problem is he would need to accept a big pay cut I suspect...

Not a serious consideration but of interest is that Marcus Maddison has signed for Darlington after quitting the professional game .. played for Spalding in patches last season. Should he get the spark back he would be far too good for the NL. perhaps though not in the mould of the new club ethos.

Yeah if Akinola doesn't get the short-term deal, don't think he will but would like him to, then striker is another needed addition.

In short I think we're looking at 2 more permanents, 3 if Clifford didn't renew.

I think, defensively, we are done unless the option to sign Lopata or Gubbins pops up. That’s assuming Clifford signs, if not, we’ll need a left wing back, or a left sided centre half, with Ralph switching to wing back.

Midfield, I think we need another couple in there personally.

Forwards, I’d like another one.

So, I’d suggest 3 more incomings, potentially a fourth if Lopata or Gubbins become available.

From there, I think loans will be used to plug gaps that crop up through injury/loss of form/players moving on.

As said by other posters, we seem to be building a squad that will need to play at their best during the friendlies in order to try to secure a place in the starting XI for the first game of the season.

The only slight blot is with the injuries to Murphy & Cardwell. The management team might learn what their best midfield is for the attacking options we have now .......... but how we play (& who we play) could change when these players return from injury.

With the players we have I would like to see us trying 4-4-2* - it's so "unfashionable" it must be close to coming back into fashion soon ............

(* It's also explained by the fact that I am an old fart.)

Interesting times.

He came for a wage, don’t kid yourself about anything else he is very money motivated and always has been hence why he left us 4 times now all for more money. He’s absolutely minted I have no idea at his age why he is not retired.
It’s not every day you get an opportunity to join a massive club, you can’t blame him.

Would love us to sign Josh Kelly from Maidenhead. Looks V likely to leave them this summer after the season he’s had. Wouldn’t be surprised to see League 2 clubs after him though.
He's one I'd love to see us go after. Sure he will have interest from at least the big clubs in this division. Wonder if we can put ourselves ahead of them in the queue, if indeed we are interested?

Yeah, your loss is our gain there. He is arguably the best thing to happen to SUFC in several years and Kevin Maher has 100% trust in him. The army of scouts and the breadth of the scouting operation that he brings are invaluable and it has completely turned around the club's recruitment. Not just in terms of the profile of player we're targeting (young, hungry and on their way up as opposed to 31, 32 years old + and on their way down), but also in terms of the way the club is going about the entire process - we're now scouting players early and thoroughly, having them watched at least 3 times and usually by 3 different people, getting character references, approaching agents early to get to the front of the queue, dealing professionally with their club if we need to. We've never seen the club run like this before. Only problem is being on edge wondering whether they're going to be given the tools to do their job or when the rug is going to pulled out from underneath them by the Chairman.
Do u good people think it’s time to stop sniping at the chairman at every given opportunity ?
He appears to have put the jig saw into place and keeping a back seat, people are being paid !
Lets b happy and enjoy while we can !😇😇😇😇

Absolutely ****ing not. Whilst great strides are being made in certain areas, this club will never move forward fully until the Martin family is firmly in the rear view mirror.
