SUFC closing in on League 1 striker

Rory Fallon.

I think most of you lot are looking way too high and are jsut going to be disappointed when the guy we sign isn't Trundle/Sharp/Hayter. Tilly said last week that he wasn't moving for Agogo because he'd signed Ricketts which ways to me that he's got his first choice pair up front already. I think it will be someone in the Harold/Owusu mold.

Whoever it is I have complete faith in Tilly. Most of you lot were spitting blood when we signed Bradbury.

That said, I'm staggered that anybody could seriously suggest Neil Harris.

Funny you should mention his name.

According to a reliable source, we was after him and making enquiries to sign him around the time of our league two playoff semi-finals with Northampton. The first i heard about it was at Sixfields, the 0-0 draw game where Gutts missed a sitter.

Tilly definitely likes him and i wouldn't be surprised if he signed.

I'd sooner have Akinfenwa though!

Ok.
He failed miserably in League One.

No, I dont think he could cut it in the Championship - and I dont think Tilly would touch him with someone else's.

Failed miserably? He only made four starts!

The first time Bridges got a run of games was at Carlisle and as soon as he got fit he started scoring goals.

We wouldn't get him anyway. Word is he's on the way to Aston Villa.

Abbott and Eastwood would be one hell of a partnership. Im sure Tilly is aiming his sights high not just a squad player like Harrold or Akinfenwa. Isnt his policy to only get players in who are better than we already have.

Dean Windass?
Wayne Allinson?

Could be absolutely anyone!

A serious contender could be Forest's Holt, though?...

I was thinking that...

Although surely Forest wouldnt get rid of him after only playing 18 games, and signing him for 300k?...

Tilly has made no secret about the fact he rates him though so who knows....

Staying at Forest, how about David Johnson, if he is still there?....

Johnson isn't a bad shout either. However he does seem to upset a few people where he goes.

Apparently Abbott was having talks with Martin Allen at MK Franchise with a view to swapping Abbott for Dean Lewington, but the deal went pear-shaped: Abbott to MK Donkeys

Jackson's got 5 strikers on his books and because of this apparent 'falling out' is likely to offload Abbott IMO, for a fee.

At 24 years of age, 6.2 with quick feet, pace and talent (according to many of the comments by Hudds fans) we could do far worse.

Bridges is easily good enough for Championship football again, at Carlisle he has finally shaken off his injury problems and lack of confidence since his nightmare spell out of the game. Lets not forget how good this lad was 5 or 6 years ago before his problems. His goalscoring record last season was extremely good and he was comfortably the most talented player in League Two. For me if Villa are sniffing around I'm not surprised.

A league one striker with plenty of experience and career goals...
