Southend to be approached

I have said before and I'll say again - Tilly can be our Dario Gradi and be at this club for many, many years.

He can provide the sort of continuity and stability which will see the club grow and prosper. He can become the greatest individual person ever associated with our club in its entire history.

We have had more than our fair share of muppets in charge over the years. Even the decent ones we've had haven't been 'Southend United people'. Now we have someone who is not only a very good manager but a Shrimper through and through lets not hound him out - or take the short term money over long term gain - eh?

Martin Allen or Ian Holloway would do for me.

All this speculation, is this why Tilson has spent no money yet. He know's he'll go, and so does Ron.

Neither would be a bad shout actually Tony as their records compare with Steve Tilson's; Allen's is marginally better, Holloway's marginally worse. Given your usual apoplexia for ST though, I hate to think what you'd have in store for them whenever we lost!

Don't even get me started on your logic for the last comment...

:D

I don't think he'll leave, but if he were to we should replace him wityh someone who honestly believed they could do a better job than Tilson. On that basis the only qualified people are Wiggy and TTK

If Tilson does decide to leave his beloved Southend for Franchise FC (which I very much doubt anyway) Ian Holloway is job seeking and is available.

If Tilly goes to Franchise Scum FC, I think I'll give up football.

B***y F*y going to Birmingham was bad enough, but Tilly is a local lad and at least Birmingham were a sleeping giant (albeit, one in a coma) with a legitimate history rather than a *******ised entity who should not even be in the football league.

Surely Tilly has got more sense than to join Frankenstein FC? There are bigger and better clubs who have come knocking for his services - e.g. Norwich City.

He'll have offers like that again in the future, I have no doubt. Tilly's ambitions are bigger than MK Dongs, aren't they?

:stunned:

Where did you get those stats, SBH? I presume it must be on percentage games won, but in that case it overlooks the fact that Shouty Allen has never achieved promotion with any club he has managed, and has walked out on most of them. Frankly there are probably 50 managers I would rather have here than him.

I would also add that the style of football under Allen would be dire. He is one of the hit it up front quick brigade. No thanks.

I think it would have to be a pretty big club for Tilly to leave and i wouldn't begrudge him that opportunity, I cant see it being MK Dons.

Stats alone mate (from Soccerbase), and based purely on points per game. Allen has either walked out, or been sacked (after less than 3 months at Leicester for being TOO shouty!). I'm not sure I'd actually want or like him as a manager, but I'm pretty sure he'd be amongst the likely candidates.

Believe me, I'm more than happy with our Mr Tilson.

Nice guy.
Loves the club.
Loved by the fans.
Knows what it takes to bring success to a club like ours.
Gets results.

What's not to like?
Also, at this stage, I'm not too concerned by the rumours.

Hope you're right, I would love to see Tilly stay but I think (despite my personal opionion of them and that owner of theirs) that it would be a very tempting offer....

I think there's a slim to nil chance of him going. Would be a step backwards in my opinion and I don't think he'd want to go there.

Yes we are. Its the only way forward. Its so expensive and time consuming to go to Premier football a lot of dads cant manage it. So they take their kids to Southend. The kids are the new supporters but it will take time.

You can actually see kids wearing the colours these days. Go back a few years and I reckon the sales of replica shirts was alomost none.

Agree 100% here, 20 years ago walk through any local park you would'nt see anything in the way of a Southend shirt, now the kids are wearing them, you see them around town, there is a new generation of Shrimpers out there, catch them young and keep them ! We now have the teen supporters of the 90's who are now parents and when they take their kids to football the blend of travel costs and their own association as a Shrimper, be it old, current or renewed makes us the 'local' club a bigger draw then at anytime before, add the prospect of a new ground and the potential to offer Championship football the next 5 to 10 years would see a period of development both on and off the pitch which would have no equal with anything that has gone before in the clubs history.

We have always been of the same opnion here fella good shout!

:goodun:

Ian Holloway is now also being lined up for the MK Dons job according to this, now that Ince has now offically left MK Dons to join Blackburn.

NOTW

Tilly and Brush are both away on holiday and thats fact.

Nothing will happen if at all until they return and unless there is a major fall out with RM regarding players funding or transfers (what has happened recently regarding contracts is a bit of a worry) I very much doubt if this will happen unless MK throw a massive offer to them out of the compensation Blackburn paid them to get Ince

Lets hope MK go for Holloway ...........
