Southend to be approached

Chris Powell.

Experienced, model professional commanding an awful lot of respect within the game, a rising stock as a talented coach with a bucketful of connections.

Tilly has been a great servant to the club and if he were to leave it would be best on good terms with the fans than having people hurling abuse at him, like the others we have had. i always said i wouldn't want to stand in his way if the oppotunity came along, we have had the best time of it over the past few seasons and maybe it is time to move on, MK dons have a fantastic new stadium and have got the chance to do what we did in previous seasons, we've been on the verge of having a new ground for 15 years or more still ain't got nowhere with that. i say if he goes he goes with all our best wishes and will hopefully return later in his career.

Are you Ron Martin?

Manly in Sydney vs UK. No contest. Manly where Spinner now lives is a beautiful & Thorpe Bay-esque place to live. When I spoke to Spinner less than two years ago, he couldn't wait to get out there.

Classic. Manly just about pips Thorpe Bay for me!

Mk would get 30,000+ crowds easy, they had 48,000+ ticket applications for the ldv, they have no local or london clubs to compete with.

But last season, their average attendance was less than 9,500. It is not correct to say they have no local clubs to compete with - Luton Town and Northampton Town are very close by. Tottenham Hotspur won't be much further away from Milton Keynes than West Ham is from Roots Hall.

I don't know what the exact population figures are, but it is often quoted that there is an extremely large number (upwards of a million??) of people whose nearest football league club is Southend, I doubt the same can be said of Milton Keynes.

The trouble with a club like MK Dons is, with there being no history to the club, will the fans who have come from nowhere disappear just as quickly when things don't go quite so well on the pitch?

Like i said no clubs to compete with ;)

I always worry about this thing regarding Tilson's loyalty. He may want to stay loyal, but then he might remember being loyal back when he was a player and the likes of Coventry, when they were in the top flight, came a-knocking.

He wanted to stay with us and then, a few seasons later, found himself being shipped of to Canvey!!!!

Maybe he'll think 'once bitten... "???

As some of may have read my post nearly 2wks ago regarding Ince going to Blackburn.

My same friend who told me this, who works at MK Dons in coaching, has now told me this morning that Ince's desk is being cleared and MK Dons will officially move in to ask for permission to talk to Steve Tilson on Monday or Tuesday morning, when Ince confirms his move to Ewood Park.

The package they are offering Southend could see compensation rise to £750k for Tilly over the next year, if MK get to the play offs. Also a 1.5m tranfers kitty will be available to the new manager and a 4 year contract.

What will Ron do??????

Slam the phone down or talk

will not happen next week I hear Steve Tilson is on his Holidays in the Caribbean.

All this talk MK Dons are a bigger club... is the biggest Joke posts of the week. I know they are lucky to take 100 fans to away games....

I wish we will start bloody buliding our new ground we NOW need to move on ...

Talk of 'loyalty' makes me laugh. Where is the loyalty from so many on here when we fail to win three games in a row? I know season ticket holders who have been fans of this Club for 20 or 30 years who claim that Tilson has "taken the club as far as he can" (and is there a more nonsensical cliché than that, by the way?).

For what it's worth, I'd be very surprised if he left for MK Dons, but one day a Club will come in with an offer that may tempt him and if he takes it can anyone blame him?

Holloway would be a great choice. I've always liked Martin Allen too, but his stock seems to have dipped recently...

Why? What has he actually done as a manager? Or are you talking about his ability to garner positive press coverage?

Are we looking for a manager or a PR man?

If Tilly goes to Franchise Scum FC, I think I'll give up football.

B***y F*y going to Birmingham was bad enough, but Tilly is a local lad and at least Birmingham were a sleeping giant (albeit, one in a coma) with a legitimate history rather than a *******ised entity who should not even be in the football league.
