Southend to be approached

I hope MK Dons go for Holloway, i can see that happening, he's a big name and they have money to spend and want to raise their profile further so hopefully Holloway will join them.

I can understand why MK Dons would be interested in Tilly but i just don't think it will happen.

In the unlikely event T&B did go, I would certainly take Chris Powell as manager with Austin as his assistant. Afterall our last 'punt' on an inexperienced former player worked out ok...

no, but the money thats thrown at the team, that surely makes them a franchise..as i say, football is a business. emrates, reebok, walkers etc....

I understand the geographical argument..so what? they still have a team in wimbledon to support..and a lot of ex supporters now go to cripple paralasis.

Just being a successful business does not make you a franchise though. When people use the term 'Franchise' in relation to MK Dons and football in general, they mean this:

Authorization granted to someone to sell or distribute a company's goods or services in a certain area.

What we don't want in this country is a situation like in the US, where major sports teams are allowed to move their home ground to different states on a whim.

If Southend moved 70 miles away, I'd be quite upset about it - just as the fans that formed AFC Wimbledon were. Just because there are other teams in the vicinity does not make it acceptable to move a club way out of it's area like that.

It is a shame that Wimbledon were effectively folded up to allow Milton Keynes to have a league team but let us not forget that the reason for this was because their support was so abysmal for a club that had previously been an established Premier League team. The fact that they didn't even have a home ground (playing at Selhurst) and drew only 800 for a league cup game was the death of Wimbledon and had they not up sticks they probably would have gone bankrupt anyway following their relegations.

beg to differ their support was abysmal whe nthey had a ground of their own,
their crowds, were certainly better than southends and when the reached division 1(or you youngsters call premier league,) they easily acheived 10,000 plus, 800 for a league cup in a stadium that wasnt their own, is to be expected. had they stayed at plough lane, and sam haman hadnt done the deal, they would have still been a bigge club than us

Are you telling me Arsenal, Chelsea, Bolton, even Southampton and Leicester arnt 'franchise' teams.

Arsenal moved from South to North London, other clubs have moved within their cities .
If you think MK Dons are hated for their Franchise connections, you should see some of the venom felt for Airdie Utd, Medowbank/Livingstone and ICT amongst lower league fans in Scotland.

Personally I don't think it would be a particularly good move for Tilly, but if (as is quite likely) he knows a bit about the future of our club , ie how the Stadium plans are likely to turn out, how much scope there is for improving the squad, how much influence RM is exerting re players to be kept sold etc, he may well feel that now is the time to go whilst his reputation is good (and probably for a better pay day).
I would wish him well, should he go, but I doubt he will be managing anywhere above league 2 in 2 years time if he does go.

there not a sleeping giant, they are a false team based on a shocking piece of decision by the FA and FL. subsequently they are hated by many many many football fans,

The first time I've ever agreed with you on anything, I think. They are a sham club, and there's not a hope in hell I'll be giving them any of my hard earned. That said there are plenty who have 'come to terms' with the theft, or 'just want to support my team' types who'll either override their principles or didn't have any in the first place. This topic is currently an 18 page-long barrage of vitriol from each point of view on the Orient board, and, I suspect, elsewhere for other clubs who have insofar had the good fortune to avoid Franchise.

In the event of Wimbledon folding, they could have reformed as they did with AFC.. then the league Wimbledon was in and below would all relegate one less club.. If the owner of Wimbledon wanted to create a league club in M.k. then he should have either bought the non league club already there or stated a new club at the appropriate level like Aldershot or AFC Wimbledon did

Let Barnes have a go at MK, he is looking for a job.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/7463038.stm

So Barnes is upset that no League one clubs ("Perhaps I could understand it if I was applying for jobs at the top level but these were clubs in League One.") are willing to gamble a season on employing a totally untried manager.. How dare they!! naturally he hints about it possibly perhaps have something to do with him being black

As for being wiling to work up from the bottom.. I wonder if he has given any non league clubs a call yet?

The trouble with that was that no-one would want to go and see Milton Keynes City play several levels below the football league with no real prospect of getting to the league anytime soon. To achieve his medium term aims he had to get a league club to move there. (So he stole Wimbledon)

A bigger club than us? Hardly a yardstick is it? They had 10 years in the Premier League and won the FA Cup only 20 years ago.

Of course they were a bigger club than us.

Martin Allen or Ian Holloway would do for me.

All this speculation, is this why Tilson has spent no money yet. He know's he'll go, and so does Ron.

Spent no money? You sure. We have BROUGHT Walker for a "six-figure" fee. Surely that classes as spending money?

If it was Norwich again or somebody else in the Championship I'd be more worried.

Yes MK Dons have a decent stadium, so will we in 3/4 years time. They have no history whereas we do. He will get a massive transfer budget there and to be fair he wont have a transfer budget of that size here.

Southend are a bigger Club then the MK Dons in my opinion and Tilson going there would be a sideways, if not downward step.

I wonder if the fact that a less experienced ,less qualified , less successful coach in Paul Ince getting a Prem job will rankle with Tilly and therefore influence his thinking at the moment ??. He may be justified in feeling a bit peeved that Ince gets his big chance so early in his coaching career and Tilly may be feeling a "bit left on the shelf " and that mindset may come into play if and when MK Dons come in for what would surely be a good fit for them ??

Just a little worried that our game with MK has been moved .....

Do you think during that call the manager situation was mentioned and were we the first club MK have spoken to post Ince ?
