I would seriously be amazed if he flies up there without some sort of offer in place. Then again, he has to sign a contract somewhere right? Right? Am I right?!

He will only go if its done. In which case I will truly stunned at the quality we have brought to the club during the summer......trying to keep my mind off it till it happens as I can't cope with this constant stream of good news and potential good news!

Same. This trip isn't just about about pre-season matches. It's about bonding and gelling as a team, stoking team spirit, new players getting to know new team mates. If PS just wants to take another look, he could wait til they're back from Scotland. Ryan Leonars has gone because he figures in the manager's plans for next season, needs to get to know his new team mates and will presumably sign a contract afterwards. I can see the Ricketts situation being similar.

The club have now confirmed Ricketts will be involved in the weekend games as he continues his 'trial'.

Rohan Ricketts will link up with the squad for our games on Saturday and Sunday in Scotland as he continues his trial

Just put up on twitter. Good news I hope........

SUFC and Ricketts still talking but benefit to everyone if he plays more games. Will probably link up tomorrow morning after traveling up.

The club may say he is continuing his "trial" but it's common knowledge that they want him, we've already been negotiating with his agent. This sounds very much then that a deal must be close if he is travelling. Surely good news anyway, also gives him more of an opportunity to get to know the squad and have discussions with the likes of PS and TB. Not counting any chickens but surely a positive sign, if we were THAT far apart in terms of wages then surely he wouldn't be travelling......

Lets just hope he doesn't score a hatrick verses Dundee- my fear is if it isn't sorted the wage requirement will only go in one direction and others will soon be on the case. There must be some sort of verbal understanding else this could backfire...

I can't see RR being happy to jet up to Scotland if he didn't think a compromise was possible. Still I could be wrong I suppose.....

Today I had a tough decision to make ahead of travelling to Scotland but I thought I would come up and show my commitment before I

Entertain the other takers. The decision has been slightly influenced the love shown by the Southend fans, even before signing. #magical

Based on the above I would urge every Southend fan to sign up to Twitter and aid the contract negotiation by showing the love!!!

If we can agree wages etc soon I am sure he will sign --- if it goes on too long someone else will nick him.

No, I'm pretty sure they take a slice of everything, including a players normal pay cheque.
All depends on the scope of the agreement and what is / isn't done. Also might be different reps for day to day vs crisis management vs transfers.

We would be crazy to miss out on this player. He's already shown real commitment and a player of real quality with that attribute can only be a real plus to the team and further improve our chances of getting up the leagues!!
