Ok Ron says he wants to lead southend back into the championship .Right its about time he started giveing the fans what they want we want Ricketts in our club to aid getting this team back on the footballing map .He gave us a good leader in Sturrock now give him a team to get us promoted .

I dont think he would demand that sort of money . Look at where he has been in the last few years theres no way 2nd or 3rd divison sides from hungary/maldova/germany would afford to pay him that.

If RR slips through our hands IMO is a mistake, i gurantee you by october there would be at least 10 posts on a saturday evening saying we would of won that game if RR was out there.

Man alive, what do you think he was on in Germany and Moldova? Wilhelmshaven are a Regionalliga side and are very unlikely to pay their players any more £1,000 per week, if that. Chisinau probably pay less than that. I even doubt whether he was on anything more than £2k per week at Toronto, because the MLS don't pay out huge wages. Ricketts is a great talent no doubt, but he has work to do and a reputation to rebuild in this country and if he is as grounded and as suspicious of the money and business side of football as he says he is, he won't be expecting more than £2k per week. He's already said that he isn't asking for the world and that money isn't a huge motivator. You'd have thought that an offer of £1,500-£1,800k per week with a couple of bonuses chucked in, plus an automatic wage rise if we get promoted would be the way forward. I doubt whether the two sides are far apart in the negotiations.

Yea sorry, didnt mean that is what he was on then - its all relative. He's hardly going to go to the backwater of Moldova and expect £5k a week.

Same as coming to a League 2 club and expecting that - what I mean was a) he is back in England and generally they would pay more than some backwater Moldovan side and b) he is probably good enough to go to a 'bigger' club and get more money.

Hopefully the way he has been treated with us, the chance we have given him, what he says about PS and the rest of the staff and the love we've all shown him on Twitter is going to count for a lot against other clubs - we've got to be ahead in the running no matter if another club comes in and offers slightly more money.

just finally got a response from my source......some of the players are following this and think its hilarious!! He now says stop tweeting Ricketts...he isnt at home! LOL:winking: Trouble is I doubt that anything can happen until tomorrow so we are just winding ourselves up! I dont know if he is winding me up now or not.....................

How useless is Paterson's agent! He's been being touted around for ages but seemingly very little interest. You've got to believe that Pato and his agent aren't overly bothered about moving and are sitting around filling their pockets. Unfortunately, a common occurance in football nowadays!

Don't agents only get paid when they move, or do they get a % of wages?

I remember Spurs sending an Under 19 team down for a friendly once... they won 4-1 and I'm sure Ricketts was a star in that side.

Anyone else remember that?
