How useless is Paterson's agent! He's been being touted around for ages but seemingly very little interest. You've got to believe that Pato and his agent aren't overly bothered about moving and are sitting around filling their pockets. Unfortunately, a common occurance in football nowadays!

You had me at "How useless is Paterson..."

Would like Ricketts but aint gonna cry myself to sleep if we dont get him. Had it been one of the youth players who scored a hat trick would we be creaming ourselves so much? He obviously has talent but half a season for spurs in 2002 has done very little in football either here or abroad. I have faith in Luggy- if the deal doesnt go ahead- to find someone else. after all this time last year we had hardly anyone and there are still an awful lot of players out of contract, many of whom could do a good job for us, if indeed they are needed. If it comes down to Ricketts or the lad Parkinson perhaps Parkinson would be the better option- young, good potential.

R.Ricketts is a quality player to have in League 2, he someone who can make a big impact for us at League 2 level & his quality can help us in a top of the table match where one piece of quality can win us the game.

Would rep you but have to spread it around. When we drool over some of the players that are being connected with us we need to remember that there are a lot of others like them out of contract and going to lower league clubs. The question will be what Luggy can do those he can get. His record speaks for him in that respect. Should be an exciting season.

I heard Ricketts on BBCESSEX today according to him the club have been intouch with him twice today and he said he like the set up at the club he likes Paul Sturrock and he isnt asking for unresonable money .Cant tell by that how far of the mark the clubs wage offer is but maybe they should look at the possabilty of incressing the crowed with Harris and Rickeets in the same line up .Do not let this man slip through your fingers .I dont think the fans would look so kindly on it if you do .

At the end of the day, I think we all know that RR is too good for us right now and could most likely command wages of 2-3k a week at least.

If we don't get him because of wages, then cannot really blame the club on this one - it's like moaning we cannot get messi at £250k a week... I'd be disappointed, but we cannot keep bankrupting ourselves with silly wage bills and maybe this one is out of reach.

It's not a situation like we have been outbid for a non league players salary, then it's cause for concern. Would be a lovely bonus if the club and RR can reach a compromise, but please keep the vitriol down if it doesn't come off.

I wouldnt 'break the bank' for him weve gone down that path before

.

I dont think he would demand that sort of money . Look at where he has been in the last few years theres no way 2nd or 3rd divison sides from hungary/maldova/germany would afford to pay him that.

If RR slips through our hands IMO is a mistake, i gurantee you by october there would be at least 10 posts on a saturday evening saying we would of won that game if RR was out there.

I can only say that Ricketts himself has said that he isnt after a massive pay packet .He just wants to play football back in England .Now I am no clever dick when it comes to money but . Lets say we got Ricketts for two years and he turns out to be a super signing . maybe other clubs will sit up and notice from a higher leauge and the club could profit on two frount possable promotion and a sell on for a freebie .

Unfortunately having played for no mark teams these past few seasons any feedback on how his game is and him in general are rarer that rocking horse poo.

Man alive, what do you think he was on in Germany and Moldova? Wilhelmshaven are a Regionalliga side and are very unlikely to pay their players any more £1,000 per week, if that. Chisinau probably pay less than that. I even doubt whether he was on anything more than £2k per week at Toronto, because the MLS don't pay out huge wages. Ricketts is a great talent no doubt, but he has work to do and a reputation to rebuild in this country and if he is as grounded and as suspicious of the money and business side of football as he says he is, he won't be expecting more than £2k per week. He's already said that he isn't asking for the world and that money isn't a huge motivator. You'd have thought that an offer of £1,500-£1,800k per week with a couple of bonuses chucked in, plus an automatic wage rise if we get promoted would be the way forward. I doubt whether the two sides are far apart in the negotiations.

I note he has gone very quiet on ****ter the last few hours...

my contact at the club (who i havent heard from all close season) and who is in Jockoland has just text me saying "stand by!". He has now turned his phone off (or is out of range). Dunno what this means or even if he meant to send it to me!

If we miss out on him by £500 a week then giving Blair a contract has cost us already!
