This is a real tough one, I was so keen to see Ranger succeed and prove all of the doubters wrong.

He has not only proved himself to be a complete fool (even more so than previously imagined), but has made fools of RM and PB who put their trust in him and gave him so many opportunities; firstly to have signed him given his track record, but then time and time again after he screwed up.

I am pretty sure this is the end of his footballing career, and it is quite frightening to see how his life will develop, he's not very bright as proved with his bodged attempt to be a criminal, and wannabe gangster.

I hope i'm wrong but it's likely that in three or four years into the future he'll be the headlines again; either due to getting a long stretch or being found facedown in some stinking alleyway...

No winners here !

You can't say we didn't try...

Major cause of tension in the dressing room which affected team spirit and unity.Like any workplace the more someone gets away with the bigger the resentment from the people who stick to the company rules......He will find another club ,but will again cause problems as he clearly will not change. In a way a less talented version of Moshni without a good kick!

Arguably one of the best talents ever to don a Southend shirt. Mindset, discipline and desire was all over the shop and cost a player his last chance at a professional level and the club a possible superstar.... Very sad and will be nigh on impossible to replace from a technical perspective.

Cox is a good player at this level, but he wasn't anywhere near as good as Ranger "on his day", and the rest of our strikers aren't fit to shine Rangers boots speaking only in terms of "talent" and "ability".

Shame really as on his day he is a real handful and a good player to have in your side, shame his had a bit of a dip in form lately that has added to this, now we wait and see if a club will take a gamble on him like we did, I think it's a step backwards to league two or even the conference if he wants to continue his playing career:unsure:

Shame as he seemed to be turning as corner at least on the pitch v Charlton when I thought he looked pretty good & up for it. But I agree it was one bright spot in a pretty dire season for him, in all respects. I guess other players can forgive the favourable treatment of a 'special case' if he's playing brilliantly and they're all benefitting from him being there. But when he becomes an unreliable liability on and off the pitch it must start to really wind them up, so sadly it probably is for the best he's gone. And I say that as someone who usually gives people far more chances than they deserve.

Think the thing with Ranger you can’t “punish” him like other players. He clearly is not a man afraid of authority...so a stint with the kids or reserves wouldn’t have done anyone any favours...as I am sure he is a big presence around the training ground and dressing room. From his instagram you could tell the younger chaps looked up to him.

So this leaves you with a choice when he plays up...get rid or say nothing

I guess saying nothing hasn’t worked so, so only one choice left.

Personally, I think it’s always sad to see someone try and fail at turning their life around. Clearly the lad had a troubled upbringing and some manage it and others can’t...I wish him the best of luck finding a new club. I fear for him without the world of football....

As much as I dislike Ranger, I do sort of feel this may be either a scapegoat situation by PB or a way to save funds. That said more has most likely gone on we'll never hear about

Dissapointed as really hoped for Nile and more importantly the club the gamble of signing him would pay off.Never really got himself fit enough due to both off the field issue's and his attitude which has been far professional.

Personally he seemed to be playing within his self far too often so feel it is the right decision.

Sometime in the near future you bet ya bottom dollar that there will be the "We've got... Nile Ranger!!" being sung in 'U' Block at Pentonville Prison.

"6 foot 2 - he's in block U"

" I would have had much better results and would have made the play-offs but you kicked out Ranger, Ron" said a relieved Phil Brown.

Ron has obviously covered himself in the contract so it won't cost the club. Yes it was always an outside bet but the 3 year deal was also a carrot for Nile to make something of himself. If and we all knew it was a big if even before the police charged him with fraud, he had played like he did in our run before Christmas last year. Then someone would have paid good money for him.

Yes our horse didn't come in but if you get your money back that's not a bad way to gamble.

What are the "escape clauses" in Robinson's ludicrously long contract ?

Sacrificial lamb. No coincidence that after the many opportunities the club has had they sack him as the transfer window opens!

Never mind the issues, non of us knows what really has been happening behind the scenes to make him late for work. He could have been being bullied for all we know.

Very poor show imo.

the lamb has been slaughtered.....not Browns fault its all Rangers, he has pointed his tango coloured finger at someone else to save his own arse...will they get rid of Anton as well for turning up and trying to play when he should be arrested for trespassing on the pitch.....don't get me wrong Ranger was not playing that well and his track record is not good but lets not be fooled others should go as well
Oh has Ba gone? ;-)

If you don't know what's gone on behind the scenes how do you know that he's been hard done by?

Agree with those who think this may help the group as a whole. No one likes seeing a colleague take the p*** and get away with it.
Sad to see a decent player throw it away though. Silly boy.

A scapegoat? He mugs off old ladies ffs! And if we wanted to save funds (which any sensible business should) we wouldn't have signed the players we have over the last 18 months unless they're all playing for nothing.
