Should never have signed him. It was totally inevitable that this would happen and it was only when not if!

What an unbelievably stupid and sorry end to a story which could have turned out with a happy ending for him. You really would have thought that, given the number of chances and the amount of support the club and Ron, in particular, have given him that he would have grown up quickly enough to know how to behave like an adult and to make an effort to re-pay the trust shown in him.

What is so strange is that he was such a mild natured bloke on the pitch and off it too, whenever we've had any dealings with him, quite quietly spoken, pleasant and quite friendly. You just think that something would have clicked in his brain to make him realise what he was at risk of losing.

There comes a point when you can't keep giving someone chances if it keeps being thrown back in your face and I suspect that a point was reached where there were just no more chances left to give. Shame really as there is undoubtedly a talent in there somewhere.

Chris Phillips says the same, was always polite etc.

Sadly he clearly has issues he wont ever get past.

Shame Nile didn't workout, think attitude came with his ability and no one is bigger than the club. I suppose this thread will act as a smoke screen for PB to hide behind and deflect some flak away.

The timing of this looks convenient just as the transfer window opens and our results hit rock bottom. Designed to deflect criticism of manager and chairman and Ranger makes the perfect fall guy. Not that I have any sympathy for him, he had it coming, but why now?

Now there has to be a valid disciplinary reason on why he was sacked - not opportunity in regards to the transfer window, or just because his game dropped off - or the PFA would tear us to shreds.

I hope he pulls his head out of his butt or he'll end up ruining his life.

I think you're right, but Nile Ranger has messed up a lot more than just the bad time keeping that's been reported. I think we'd all rather those wages going on a proper goal scorer as well. Look at our forwards...Fortune, Cox, Robinson, Ba. Cox has the best goals per game playing for us, but even that isn't that good.

I still believe the Club were right to take a chance provided there was a get out clause. Such a shame it didn't work out. I do wonder exactly what effect he had on the rest of the squad. Guess in time we will find out.

I always thought the end of Nile would be a "better" story ... sure there will be much more to come out in time once those "ITK" start blabbing to their pals!!

Freeing up space for the return....

I'm guessing Ranger's antics have impacted on the squad. You let one player get away with stuff and the rest either moan or copy. That kind of thing needs lancing asap.

The club have put up with a lot with Nile. If he were performing on the pitch they MAY have chosen to continue, but as he wasn’t his luck ran out.

Good riddance, what a waster. Good luck getting another club to take a chance on you Nile, I suppose you could always fall back on being a proper gangsta or ripping off old grannies.

Seriously, I can't understand how he was allowed to get away with such poor behaviour for so long. After being given yet another chance in the summer, the club should have taken a zero tolerance attitude with regards to club rules; break one and you're gone. However he seemed to take the timekeeping issue especially as a bit of a joke when interviewed.

Arguably one of the best talents ever to don a Southend shirt. Mindset, discipline and desire was all over the shop and cost a player his last chance at a professional level and the club a possible superstar.... Very sad and will be nigh on impossible to replace from a technical perspective.

Cox is a good player at this level, but he wasn't anywhere near as good as Ranger "on his day", and the rest of our strikers aren't fit to shine Rangers boots speaking only in terms of "talent" and "ability".

I must have been watching different matches, as he was hyped up by our fan base and seriously lacking in my opinion. Yes he showed a few glimpses of being a good footballer, but nothing special and I can think of tens of better players to pull on a Southend shirt.
