What are the "escape clauses" in Robinson's ludicrously long contract ?

I agree he is useless as well, conference level player at best, summed up as to where we got him from, god only knows why we gave him such a long contract as he has never done anything to impress.

Does this mean we no longer have to suffer the mindless hoof ball dross?

Didn’t look to me like he could be arsed in the Charlton game, he was like a teenager throwing a strop. Good riddance let’s get a decent person in now who wants to play for us and make things happen.

Freeing up space for the return....

No one is bigger than the club! When you have 3 who think they are something's got to give. Onward and upward.
Best of luck Nile for the future.

What a shame, what a waste of talent. I think many forget how good he was last season before his stint in Pentonville. Find this very strange seeing as he only played against the Wombles a few days back, feel as if Brown has used Ranger’s vulnerability with his contract to please a certain section of fans, who only last season were singing out how he loved Cocaine and ecstasy... I wish Nile the best, and I hope he learns how to keep time as he could be a great asset to a squad. Just praying he doesn’t let this destroy him and keeps on the straight and narrow. I, however, am concerned we will be seeing some negative headlines about him very soon. Good luck Nile, I wish you the best

Many of Nile’s team-mates also became annoyed by his behaviour and the club were also concerned by the effect his actions were having on the younger members of the squad.

thrown under the bus by Browns clique...

This headline was always odds on from the moment we signed him, we could have almost had a thread in the style of the SZ bucket list for people to guess when this would happen.

I would say Nile has two potential futures...

1) he drops into non-league, for a fair/decent team. He then spends a few years at that level, scoring goals for fun. Eventually, due to his goal scoring prowess, he'll be offered another chance at a league 1/2 club, who panic-buy him at the end of the January transfer window. He becomes a bit-part player & fades into football obscurity.

or

2) he returns to the wild lifestyle, and is either banged up, or murdered

Yes, it's a waste of talent, and yes, I hope he can turn his life around, but as an employer there's a point beyond which you can't go. If he's setting an example to the youngsters that they can behave unprofessionally with minimal consequences that will hurt us in the long run, as the youngsters won't keep the drive to meet their potential. If as a senior member of staff I was always late to work and didn't work too hard, do you think anyone below me on my team would really have the motivation to push themselves?

1 seems pretty likely, and he's young enough that that cycle could repeat itself two or three times.

Shame i always hoped he could turn his life around ,but in saying that im sure there are others who should be sacked also ,its just that RM dosent have a clause written into their contract that allows him to sack them. Also it wont stop the hoofball,as long as you havecertain players who only know hoofball.

More likely the second I'm afraid -basically if you can't get to training on time or to the match there not much hope for you.
I think he had more than enough chances here. Last season was bit of a novelty for him and exciting playing football again - this year since he got out of prison he couldn't cope with the mundanity of just getting to work every day and staying straight.

Yeh it's such a hard life getting up in the morning for football. Can you imagine if one day he has to do a normal mundane job like most people. A child in a man's body.

as you said, he couldn’t cope. He has a history of not being able to cope. Apart from moving into the area ( did that happen?) what was done differently that was going to help him change? Was he seeing anyone to help him through his issues? If the answer is no then it’s no surprise he didn’t change. I know some will say he is a grown man and how hard is it to be on time, but for some it is a big deal, I don’t know if Nile was taking the **** or if he was genuinely trying ( but failing ).

My take on the matter and, just to qualify, I’m purely speculating here and in no way defending him. I thought it was crazy that we offered him such a lengthy deal and remember thinking it was such a monumental gamble on our part if there weren’t cast-iron contractual clauses relating to his behaviour…

That said, I don’t think it’s much of a surprise that Ranger’s form on the pitch and apparent behavioural issues off it have pretty much coincided with the much wider slide in form and discontent within the squad.

When we as a club were going great guns last season, so was Ranger. He was a pretty pivotal player for a time and showed a level of performance on numerous occasions that piqued the interest of Championship scouts. During that time Ranger and other members of the squad all spoke of a fantastic morale and team ethic within the changing room that was spurring them on.

That now seems like a long time ago.

Like I said, I’m purely speculating here and do think releasing Ranger is the right decision, particularly now that it appears he’s become more trouble than he’s worth. I do also think the circumstances surrounding this season haven’t helped him.
