national league

Earlier today the National League says it is contacting the Government in an attempt to change their current policy of offering loans to instead giving grants to each club. If they are successful then they will probably carry on playing. This saga could run and run.

If it changes to Grants they both continue.

Covid robbed us of our chance to save ourselves last season. Surely it wont happen again because even if we play on the games will be meaningless.

Still at least Nile has his contract and he will be able to take it easy if theirs no relegation.....Not suggesting for one minute that he would.

We should bring back re-election for the EFL. Any two from the bottom four, or none at all.

Be far more exciting and give the fans something to discus. In fact make it the fans who choose. A poll on the zone, how good would that be.....Although we would probably vote ourselves out of the league but at least it would teach Ron a lesson

Not got a good feeling that this will be saving us. RM is gambling for sure on this IMO.

I don't think he is, but it will certainly be a relief to him if it pans out they we would like...and I use the word like in the loosest sense of the word.

I don't think there's much hope of a reprieve from this - reading into it, the voting is weighed heavily in favour of the National League top division clubs, and the real clamour for ending it is coming from the tier 2 North and South.

That's how I see it going to.

What happens when clubs just say fair enough but we are not playing anymore games. Are Dover going to play all nine games in March, including 5 Tuesday fixtures.

There last game of the season is the 29th of May at Hartlepool. One of the complaints is not enough testing. Never mind boys hop on the bus, I know we are down but they are desperate to finish the league.

6 clubs are ready to stop playing games that will be enough to stop it I think

Sorry , so
No, needs 23+4 votes in NLS or NLN

So 11/21 in NLS or 12/22 in NLN

If both lower leagues voted to decide their own step it would need those 8 votes and at least 15/23 in NL to vote for
voting on there own Lge would be the best or worst chance for it to be stopped, not that I think it should be just trying to get my head round it

What would happen if clubs decided that they simply couldn't afford to continue and didn't fulfil their fixtures? I get the feeling that this is going to rumble on for quite a while

Please please please !

Get the idea out of your head that we will be staying up because of this.

This is simply a tactic to help secure more funding for the national league in the form of grants. there is no way they will scrap this season and save us.

They will find a way of honouring the promotion to the EFL, whether it's a playoff for the top 10 or what ever. If we finish in the bottom 2 we WILL be going down.

We can only save ourselves. Pinning your hopes on this is just going to cause you heart ache.

Lets get behind the boys, come together and all prey we can turn it around.

Nah, it’s flawed system and why should fans have any say over who is or isn’t relegated / promoted?
In 1971/72 Hereford United finished 2nd to Chelmsford City but gained promotion to the FL purely on a sentiment vote on the back of the win over Newcastle in the FAC. Since gone bust and reformed as Hereford FC.

Back when the FAC mattered and every youth in Britain owned a green parker with real rabbits fur trim.

Thats a great example of a better system. Back then neither team were likely to be voted in but that Ronnie Radford goal and pitch invasion just had to be rewarded.

Thats another thing bring back pitch invasions, lose dogs and streakers.

Would feel a little 'dirty' staying up like this when a club like Torquay are much more deserving of the league place
Torquay—most probably Champions—definitely but I wouldn’t be happy about losing our place to a team finishing 7th (on ppg even?) and then enjoying some lucky breaks (clueless refereeing?) in their three play-off games.
