Breaking News Monies paid to HMRC..Now on the OS

Not publishing a statement is one way of punishing fans for their comments earlier this week. "Keep those bloody buggers down where they belong"

I still cant believe there is nothing on the OS about it, surely someone could have put a short statement on there, just to either confirm that there will be some news over the weekend/later that day, or even confirm or deny the rumours. I see no other reason as to why Ron would hold back from telling us if its confirmed or not, total disregard and disrespect for the fans, I can appreciate that RM is a busy man, but it doesn't take a lot of effort to type a short paragraph on the OS, to keep the fans informed with the going-ons with our club.

Since Wednesday I have sat by the OS at work and at home, Southend radio in one ear and call center headset in the other waiting for, I dunno, a paragraph, a sentence, a word maybe from the club that I've devoted my life too. What do I (we) get?

Maybe you should invest in a hobby?

I'm not going to forget the disregard shown to me from the club I support.
I appreciate how immensly busy everyone concerned at the club would have been over the last week and a half, but with (apparently) over 80 staff at the club you'd have thought that someone could have tapped out a few words on the OS??? No? Perhaps I'm expecting to much?
I'm not forgeting for a second how much strain this would have put, I'm sure, on RM himself and his family. What about the strain on us?

You mean the three statements that have been made since last friday? Further more, releasing statements out on a daily basis would send out the wrong signal, making us look desperate, plus i'm sure there was plenty of sensitve information which could not be discussed in the public? This all stems back to the arguement that RM is too free with information, and as soon as he withdraws a little, he has his critics out. The media hype from the Echo didn't really help

Southend United is my hobby, could do without the snide remarks.

So you think that after having promised on Wednesday that the money would be paid today that a simple 'Yes it has' or 'no it hasn't' is a bit to much to ask from the club?

Do you work for the club??? Your posting on the wrong site. Try the OS.

i would expect a quote from the club in the next 12hrs one way or another, until then judgement is reserved, everything is crossed that it is paid, then we can move forward.

But surly if it was paid the club would be shouting it from the rooftops to rally supporters!?

Something seems fishy

That's my concern too. I'm sure Cricko wouldn't have started this thread if he wasn't sure it was true but the longer we go without an official announcement the more worrying it gets.

Something seems fishy and I am not talking about my birds flange either!

point taken, if ron doesnt pay this time, you will see very colourful language. Am i an idiot to trust him, im sure HMRC are thinking exactly the same.

we may have paid the money over but until it is OFFICIALLY accepted and gone through on HMRC side then it would be silly to release a statement and then look like a complete gammon-hanger when the huge novelty cheque bounces. i'd imagine we will have word before sunday, natwest (satwest, another day) is definitely open tomorrow so I'm sure other banks/novelty cheque makers will be trading...................oooooooooooo that's probably it, ron's probably just getting a costume for a huge novelty cheque for the os....

No to be fair you have a point, and I appologise for my snide remark. Trying to be funny doesn't always seem to be the best way forward! I just felt you over exaggerated in your critism.

That would be funny if there probably wasn't a large element of truth in it.

I think it is funny. Some people had the faith this would work out and they didnt spend the entire week worrying about something that hadnt happened. If I was chairman and read some of the comments on here last week I would wonder why I was making all the effort. Its only that there also about half the other people who spoke some sense.
In business there are things that people in certain positions dont need to know. They might be friends, but you protect them from the stuff that goes on at the top, just as the people of this country probably dont know half the stuff the government know. Thats life. Like it or not. If the world was a true democracy it would be a dead planet by now. Like it or not. Too many people thinking with half-empty heads.

Whether we have an injury ravaged squad or not, we are alive and kicking and are 4 points off the playoffs and that will do for me. Up the Blues

Do you think it might be the reasons stated in your post might be part of the cause of our problems ? We have probably over-spent on the areas highlighted and if cuts need to be made it may be the youth set-up that is one area that may be looked at.

The Trust have been funding the youth set-up since the first day that Ricky Duncan took charge! The groundwork was done at a friendly at Bowers & Pitsea that day!

Amen to that, and to Pringlejons emminently sensible post too.

Sponsoring. and sponsoring handsomely, but nowhere near paying the full cost, let alone Ricky duncan's wages.

I heard that ron has promised the trust an exclusive press conference

I'll be there!

If this is true, make sure you ask him Elstree Blue's questions.

Can't happen because of the Covenant on Roots Hall (see "Who owns Roots Hall" thread). We can't be forced out until we have a new home.

Not true. We don't have the benefit of the covenant (and even if we did, it can't compel someone to do something as it is restrictive in nature - if it was positive it wouldn't bind to the land and it wouldn't be enforceable) - we would be reliant on whoever has (if indeed anyone still has) has the benefit of the covenant enforcing it on our behalf.

The covenant provides some comfort as it makes it harder (but not impossible) for Roots Hall to be used for alternative uses, but it does not give SUFC any rights over the land.

Pointless thread of the year??

What shocks me, is some of you are willing to accept Ron as a hero - yet he is the reason the club got to this state. .

Have to agree with you there J. I know there are always going to be some differences of opinion on here but for the first time I've started to question whether certain sections of the support are actually dangerous for our future in their willingness to just accept what they're told

Some open questions to a number of people on here.....

Are you really of the opinion that there was never any financial problem at the club with no danger at all of us ending up in administration this week?

Forget about whether Ron is right or not to withhold information at certain times (as I accept the argument that he can't tell us everything) but do you really believe that what he has told us has been completely honest and truthful?
