Breaking News Monies paid to HMRC..Now on the OS

And I would not disagree with you. There IS evidence of care and concern for club and supporters. Whether this is genuine or part of the master plan, time will tell and I have a slightly open mind on this issue. What remains is his core motivation and that alone is enough to keep him going through the tough and perhaps unappreciated times.

Pretty much my take on the situation. I think that Ron is, at least, considering our best interests but as you say only time will tell.

Here here, take it from me you cannot earn money from a club at this level

So where is the confirmation that the outstanding money has been paid (or not) then?

Shame on the club for the way they have handled their PR over this.

I think they're waiting until HMRC acknowledge in the High Court on Monday that the funds have been received and that the administration order has therefore been withdrawn. I agree that it would be good to have a statement to the effect that everything is under control but maybe Ron genuinely did believe that everything would be paid off before the October 28th deadline and a last minute hitch prevented that from being the case and given the reaction from fans this week when that turned out not to be the case, he'll be doubly careful before making statements in the future.

I dont expect to be informed of every swist and turn of the clubs finances, but yes its paid or no it isnt cant be that hard for the club to come out with. o well suppose it all come in good time.

I must admit it seems very odd to me that the club have not come out with some sort of statement but perhaps as others have said maybe they are waiting for the court to say its paid.:dizzy:

Can't you just get Ron Martin on the phone to confirm it has been paid? This waiting around until Monday lark is not cool.

:)

I could phone Richie Foran if you like , but at the moment things between Ron and I are not exactly setting the world alight.

All sounds very good!
i would say rather then a case of bad PR its probably a case of needing 100% confirmation from all parties involved and drawing up a universal press release before they start throwing around random quotes and half assed statements.
theres no logic in releasing good or bad news if its not confirmed...

Club Statement

Statement received from the club:

"The Club’s Chairman, Ron Martin, has today (3:00pm) confirmed that one of his Group Companies has now paid, in full, the tax due to HMRC in the sum of £2.1m thereby removing the threat of administration.

The funds were being held by the Revenue's solictors and at lunchtime today they have been released.

A further, more detailed, statement will be made next week."

What a time to release a statement :D

Southend United Football Club has today issued the following statement:

The Club's Chairman, Ron Martin, has today (3pm) confirmed that one of his Group Companies has now paid, in full, the tax due to HMRC in the sum of £2.1m thereby removing the threat of administration.

The funds were being held by the Revenue's solicitors and at lunchtime today they have been released.

A further, more detailed, statement will be made next week.

Glad that's over then. Sounds so simple there, almost like he just asked whether his group companies had the money and they checked behind the sofa.

So endeth the rumour that the dosh has come from Sainsbury's, unless they are part of RM's empire.

I don't see that at all H, the monies were paid to one of his companies then paid to HMRC....the source of it is still in doubt.I can not imagine for one minute he had it laying about in some account unless he has hocked everything he has.
