:D :D What's the opposite of RTS (Rose Tinted Spectacles)? Honestly Paul, cheer up, have a beer, put the pitchfork back in the cupboard until next time Ron annoys you, and rejoice that we aren't 10 points worse off and waiting for the assett stripping to commence!

Some people realy are ever happy!

We all know that things aren't rosy BUT we have avoided going into administration and probable relegation as a result. If thats not a reason to be cheerful I dont know what is!!

Ian Dury may be able to help you out there Rich.

I think the point is, it doesnt matter if he has borrowed £2.1m, £21m or £210m - sooner or later, the way we are being operated as a club, that money will run out.

We desperately need this ground now and hope it does the trick of stabilising.

Thing is Paul, that's the whole point of the exercise. Until we can drive some new revenue streams, managing Southend United will always be about keeping the wolves from the door.

I said it weeks ago and I'll say it again, this whole thing has been a game of brinkmanship. Even to get the stadium to the position it's in now has taken a huge investment - HUGE. So HUGE in fact that it's almost seen us go into administration. But, in my opinion, we still needed to do it. Without Martin's investment over the last few years we'd have gone into administration many moons ago anyway!

Someone else might have stepped in of course, but without those new revenue streams coming in, it's still a futile exercise.

If the last week has threatened our darkest hour, we might well now be facing our brightest one. I'm an optimist at heart but I genuinely believe we're now superbly set to push onwards and upwards.

I'm so happy, I shall have an extra tequila next time am out on the sauce.

I would encourage everyone else to do the same also. Drink responsibly though, of course. :)

RM will probably make a statement just before the game tomorrow in the hope of it be a big pick me up!

This in turn will create a party atmosphere on the scaffolding & the players respond with a win!!!

I'm going to wait for official confirmation before I go overboard, but I'm gonna get smasharooed tonight.

You just ooze positivity Craig :stunned:

Like i said mate it is great news but i just expect with ron now we take 2 steps forward and 1 back, but at least it seems we are moving forward, i hope and pray that Ron has sufc at heart.

To see the club i love and supported for many years in the position it is now is a sad sight really, maybe its just me getting old, but the money thing is more real these days, when i was young and on the stands in Fiorentina for the anglo cup, money at the club didnt worry me as sufc would live forever, its getting old mate it makes me cynical:)

But is it in such a bad state? Yes, we are losing money, but so are the majority of League clubs. Since the last time we nearly went into Admin, RM has reinstated the Yoofs, and the Reserves, has ramped up the community work with the excellent Youth and Community department, has signed up one of the best Yoof coaches in the country, has signed T&B to a long contract and kept faith with them, is aiming at putting our Youth setup on an Academy basis, our crowds are double what they were, we are a division higher, we have a decent stadium on the horizon - yes, things looked a bit bleak for a while there, and the squad has been squeezed this season (but still 10th!) BUT there are an awful lot of positives if you step back and take a look.

:)

that would be my take on the situation, although to say the squad has been squeezed is a bit of an understatement the squad is quite frankly laughable(although well placed in the league)

Do you think it might be the reasons stated in your post might be part of the cause of our problems ? We have probably over-spent on the areas highlighted and if cuts need to be made it may be the youth set-up that is one area that may be looked at.

I have mainly kept out of this debate, because sometimes I find it difficult to convey my feelings into words, but this has to be one of the most eloquent posts I have read regarding the current issues. Many thanks for that ACU.
