Breaking News Monies paid to HMRC..Now on the OS

Still awaiting official comformation from the OS, but if this is true, this is the best piece of news in two weeks imo.

Well if this is true then this is fantastic news.

However, assuming the money was forwarded to us as part of the deal to sell Roots Hall, it does mean that there is no going back now on the move to FF. If for any reason it doesn't happen then we will have jumped out of the frying pan into an even bigger fire because without FF we no longer have a ground.

I look forward to the club's statement...

I heard that ron has promised the trust an exclusive press conference

1 - I really want to see official confirmation of this before I truly believe it, that's not casting doubts on the legitimacy of these sources but I always prefer to get these things straight from the horses mouth
2 - I'm happy about this of course but still have some real reservations about where exactly this money has come from and any future repercussions this could have. Sorry for being a miserable git and raining on the parade, but we haven't been able to pay wages in recent times and have now pulled £2 million + out of thin air? Sorry, but I can't believe that's not coming at some sort of price.
3 - I'm still wary and distrustful of Ron Martin. Too many smoke and mirrors, too much spin and half truths. He still has a LOT of explaining to do to satisfy me and I don't think we'll get it.

As i understand it this isn't true because as i believe is it, nothing else can be built on the groun where Roots Hall is until Southend have another ground when we arestill a club. I think this is priceless as with Ron not currently claiming rent, (which i hope will continue) we could in theory stay at Roots Hall for the forseeable. In practice no, because money wise it wouldn't work but i don't think we will end up homeless. Although i am sure one of the more knowledgeable lot will tell me i am wrong?

Believe it money paid in full and not the £690,000 that was owed

Bit confused. If he could get £2.1m today, presumably he could have got one third of that a couple of weeks ago (possibly on less onerous terms) and saved all this hassle?

ron has made it clear many times that if we don't get Fossets farm we are XXXXXXX so in that regard nothing has changed.

but more to the point YESSSSS!!!

Ok, you're wrong.

At the AGM, it was stated that the main building for Sainsburys was on the east side of the roots hall site and that building will commence in the carpark area while we still play at roots hall. My guess is that once that starts, its gonna be mighty difficult to stay put.
Just hope and pray that Fossetts starts VERY soon!

Do you think it might be the reasons stated in your post might be part of the cause of our problems ? We have probably over-spent on the areas highlighted and if cuts need to be made it may be the youth set-up that is one area that may be looked at.

Absolutely, Ken - having kicked John Main out for "going native", I think there is some evidence that RM is a victim of the same condition, abeit that I think that he has more method in his madness. I honestly think that Ron has been ploughing money into the SUFC team infrastructure so that when we reach FF we can hit the ground running. A laudible ambition, but ironically because of the recession it also nearly derailed the entire project. As to whether cuts still need to be made, the next few weeks should tell - I found KingShrimper's encouraging post very, well encouraging in that respect.

Can't happen because of the Covenant on Roots Hall (see "Who owns Roots Hall" thread). We can't be forced out until we have a new home.

Well that is going to bugger up the parking for everybody

If it involved rushing through/finalising the deal with one or more of the FF/RH clients, then it is the time that was the problem, not the amount, so he couldn't get a penny until it was thrashed out, but the lot when it was. And there has been a lot of speculation that this deal must be "onerous" because RM was in a corner, but that is all it is, speculation. It is in a lot of people's interests not to hold up this project.

I'm sorry...........I might be missing something here but a few zoners get a text message saying that everything is hunky dory and from an unnamed source and now we can all relax. Well thank heavens for that. The way we as supporters have been treated through this sorry saga is nothing short of a disgrace.
Since Wednesday I have sat by the OS at work and at home, Southend radio in one ear and call center headset in the other waiting for, I dunno, a paragraph, a sentence, a word maybe from the club that I've devoted my life too. What do I (we) get? Nothing, nadda, zippo. We've been treated with utter and complete contempt and I will never forget it.
Regardless of what happens form here on in, money for players, FF built, promotion to the premier league, RM given the freedom of Southend...............I'm not going to forget the disregard shown to me from the club I support.
I appreciate how immensly busy everyone concerned at the club would have been over the last week and a half, but with (apparently) over 80 staff at the club you'd have thought that someone could have tapped out a few words on the OS??? No? Perhaps I'm expecting to much?
I'm not forgeting for a second how much strain this would have put, I'm sure, on RM himself and his family. What about the strain on us?

Loving the positivety in this thread....

(if true) Brilliant! Well done ron, proved them wrong etc etc let's get back to competing this season! :)

If it's been paid, why aren't we being told officially? What possible reason is there for keeping that from us? Total disregard for the fans.
