Breaking News Jack Wood joins Torquay on loan

You're not disagreeing and you feel he should have more game time. Especially when several are not at their best and still picked. So, In your opinion, why is such a perceived talent given so little time to prove it? Personally I think he looks useful and can cross a ball. I suspect it is because he chooses to face forward and may not defend enough for Maherball. Maybe he should be an example of how to go about it?

Only Maher can answer that.

Personally, when I talk about people carrying scars from the horror last couple of years that need a fresh start, Wood is at the top of my list.

There is undoubtedly talent in there, however he hasn’t produced it consistently enough here. Yes, he has been a sub mainly, but he often has influenced the game when he has come on. He has had some good cameo appearances, but a long list of forgettable ones.

Quite often, when a player isn’t getting much game time, they instantly become better players to the fans. The clamour for someone who has done things in the past, be it here, or his very good loan spell, is that things would turn around with him on the pitch.

I mentioned that JS, when he picked him, said he could go to the very top and be one of his best finds. Perhaps people are using that as why he should play. Perhaps I shouldn’t have mentioned that.

I still hope he tears it up at Torquay and comes back and forces his way into the team, but I’m not sure he forces his way back in.

Jack is a great kid, doesn’t kick up a fuss, doesn’t bash down Maher’s door demanding to know why he isn’t playing, perhaps that makes him an “easy” player to leave out because he doesn’t kick up a fuss. I dont know that that is the case as to why he is left out.

I just get the feeling of Hooper or Kightly with Wood. Think we will live to regret it, it’s clearly obvious that he doesn’t fit into into Kev’s system and he’d much rather have his players who have been completely out of form play over giving Wood a go.

Taylor when he first came didn’t look the greatest, took him a good couple of starts before he came into his own. Moving him into the back 3 turned him into the great solid non league Maldini he is today.

Shame as all the talk around him and John Still’s assessment was he was one of the best talents he’d seen. Hopefully he rips it up at Torquay and forces Kev’s hand to play him.

He was a woeful midfielder, looked really out of his depth and incredibly uncomfortable in possession.

However, since going into the back three, he has been a revelation back there. Completely different player.

Bit like Joelinton at Newcastle being a very poor centre forward, but a superb midfielder for them.

He was never woeful. A bit limited maybe and paired along side Miley it was never going to be a midfield that created loads of chances. I’d actually have him back in a holding midfield role if, and only if, there were more attack minded players alongside him.

With these short loans at this level I always wondered where the player will stay and who will foot the bill. Hotel ? House share ? Air bnb ? Very interested in this scenario.

Most short term loans stay at The Roslin. SUFC foot the bill and have a very good deal with them to allow this. I'm told it also makes the player feel good and well looked after, staying in such a nice place and location.

Jack Wood. Pleased he has gone out on loan, this is the type of player that hopefully benefits the loan system. Very unlucky not to take his chance last year, keeper saving his one on one at Barnet, i felt for the lad.

No, he was truly woeful in there.

Been superb as the right of a three at the back, but was never a central midfielder in a million years.

Poor old Wood. only 9 sub appearances mostly less than 15 minutes to shine at the end of a game. Not only that in a good number of those games Kev had shut up shop. His chances of catching a break were pretty slim, let alone the f issues with the formation Kev likes to play

In addition some more in the know than me suggest Kev , like many a Manager tends to have his favourites, Bridge and Husin come to mind

Wood looks stronger and fitter and will do quite well at Torquay I suspect, given more of an opportunity and enhancing his confidence? So to be fair probably a good move for all parties

No he was in the Camelia. That aside I'm sure most players would rather have some more privacy, cooking dinner with mates or girlfriend etc.....Somewhere like the Estuary View. I believe they even sponsor the Zone.
lol my mum was in the Camelia via her insurance and had dinner most nights with Zak Brunt & Kasper Lopata when they were first loaned to us!

Not sure why there are so many 'conspiracy' theories floated about Kev and JW. This is great loan for Jack at a good club going for promotion. If he is ever going to prove himself then the top of NLS will truly give him that opportunity.

I have questioned Mayerball back in the days of Kev the messiah. I never get involved in the endless 5-3-3 nonsense because a change of formation dose not make a player shoot, cross first time or finish a 1 v 1. My alarm bells are when I witnessed three different free kick takers in one game (all failed miserably. Players looking at each other and not seeming to know who is taking the first corner or the same confusion when the corner taker is subbed........But Why would Kev arrange this loan if he wanted JW to fail?

Lets all calm down see what the results are in mid January. Either we Get a refreshed almost new signing riding hi with confidence.......A description I am yet to see and yes I get there ar mitigating circumstances.
Or Kev and co's doubts will be proved.

Lets all keep fingers crossed that it does prove successful because lord knows we need someone who can wake us all up at the Hall.

By the way "He should be given chance" should be saved for your son or daughters junior team not SUFC

No doubt you are right about that.

Hope the lad enjoys his time there whether its 28 days or the loan is extended till end of the season, Either way it will do him good to get some decent playing time, with a good club Good luck Jack .
