If i were going i'd have to avoid that playlist thingy as its half the anticipation is whether a personal favourite is played during the set

Yeah but tbf they don't update it until the day after the gig.I found it useful to check one or two numbers he'd played that I thought I knew but wasn't sure about.

Just seen the latest gig in Phil Burdett`s world tour of Penzance - an international audience at the Farmers Arms (2 Germans, 1 Norweigan and a number of Essex people - well me and Shrimpero for two) - got to hear the premiere of a new song `Birdsong` and very good it was too

Been to Battersea Park today for the BT Asian stage. Mrs pointed out that Damon Albarn (him from Blur) was sitting near us and I pointed out to her that his mate was none other than Cass Browne from Senseless Things. This gave me the opportunity to go and talk to Cass and remind him I promoted gigs for them in Southend / Rayleigh / Braintree about 20 years ago AND to blank Albarn because 'your mate is from Essex to but he is from Colchester so I want nothing to do with him'.
I'm going to see ST contempories Snuff on 1st August - they are still going strong (though Cass has recently been in some band called Gorillaz).

Last weekend it was the Tramlines festival in Sheffield. It's a completely free city-centre festival with a number of stages and all the local bars/pubs/clubs putting on free gigs and events. It was fantastic this year, aided by the brilliant weather. Saw the fantastic RM Hubbert in the cathedral, Field Music and We are Scientists on the Main stage, The Crookes above a pub, some banging techno down at a warehouse. All in all a fantastic and very drunken weekend. Something Sheffield can be very proud of.

Saw The Beach Boys first ever concert in Barcelona last night at the Pueblo Espanyol.Unlike their first ever concert in the UK(at the Finsbury Park Astoria in November 1968,which I also saw- after blagging my way in without a ticket)yesterday's 2 hour show cost me over 50 euros. But it was well worth it.First time they'd played with Brian Wilson for over two decades and David Marks(original member) was also in the band.Neither of them were in the line up back in '68.What goes around, comes around.

Saw Hugh Laurie and the Copperbottom band here last night.Suprisingly good really, though more jazz than Blues for my taste.

Saw two legends of African music at the Teatre de la Mer in Sete last Sunday.Hugh Masekela and Manu Dibango.Have to say I much preferred HM, who I last saw in '86, when he performed in Paul Simon's Graceland show.Been waiting all this time to hear and see him play a full length show ever since and he was excellent.

The Blues Band

https://southendtheatres.org.uk/Online/default.asp

The Blues Band are coming to the Palace Theatre on Friday 5th October.
(I had originally planned to come over for this and our home game against Barnet on the Saturday but a good mate has booked a flight over to Barcelona for that weekend).
Anyone who's seen them play(and I remember a gig they did at the Cliffs back in the 80's)knows what a great live band they are.Should be a fantastic night out.

Can we introduce a rule where consecutive posts are banned? This thread is just BarnaBlue talking to himself.

Anyway, got tickets for Pulp, Swans and Sharon van Etten lined up. wahey!
