Free agents this summer

Out of that list, afew that I'd be happy with (although most likely unrealistic):

Paul Rachubka (31) GK Leeds
Gary Taylor Fletcher (31) CF Blackpool
Keanu Marsh-Brown (20) CF Yeovil

There's probably others on there that would be good, but my lower league knowledge isn't fantastic.

Just saw Grant Basey on the free agent list, my best mate supports Charlton and when we were both in league one together, I practically got to know the whole team due to the high quality bant we used to have. Grant Basey had a great season then and is a decent left back who I wouldn't mind having. That's if a bigger team stumps up the cash for straker of course :winking:

Not a lot on that list that excites.

Perhaps a punt on Charlie Sherringham if Corr/Harris etc depart?

Queue the 'best 11 with double barrelled surnames' thread..

Who's actually seen Leonard at right back?

I have and would suggest it is his best position. Before he signed for Blues he was playing at Tiverton - my local team. He played extremely well at right back and I was surprised he was being played right midfield. As a player he has improved under Sturrock technically and physically and would be a success if clohessy left.

While I don't doubt your judgement, Tiverton to League 2 is a little bit of a difference in standard!

Did nt Leonard play his first to games ,albeit practice matches here at Southend at right back and score in each game. And wasnt it because of that PS signed him.

He also played right midfield in this period - looked a better right back. He's made the jump to right midfield ok - so no reason to think the jump to league 2 right back won't be a problem considering his better position.

Agree with this, midfield is a far harder position to play and he plays ok there so RB shouldn't be a problem.

Which club was our CEO at prior to coming to Southend ?

ive seen Charlie Sheringham play a few times , good player , doesn't run around alot or make many runs , likes to feed off balls in to the box ,alot like harris . good poacher , but wont get us out of our seats much

Looking through the Out of Contract list only a few players jump out that id like to see us Sign/Trial

Dean Gerken - Ex Col U, Southend Born Goalie if we let Smith go
Danny Whittaker - Probably will get a league 1 side?

Dean Gerken was an excellent keeper and fell out of favour at Bristol when David James came in. Would be excellent to have but only if Bentley isn't no.1 and Smith goes.
