Films you've watched recently.

Well it was a great night at The Baftas for "All Quiet" and "Banshees" that was the plus side.........The minus side too much grey hair and I could have sworn that I saw Vincent Price star of "House Of Wax" but my partner pointed out no it is Baz Luhrmann!!

Interesting to see that apart from best male actor (a clear nod to the Oscars) Elvis only won 3 other minor Baftas.

Saw Babylon yesterday.A waste of 3 hours.Interesting that the film referenced both The Jazz Singer and Singing in the Rain.Presumably because the target demographic of Brad Pitt fans either wouldn'd have heard of these films or certainly not seen them.Incidentally both of these latter films give a much better cinematic account of the transition from silent film to "talkies" than this piece of tosh.

I originally made up my mind not to see "Elvis"----Having changed my mind I really enjoyed it.
It's certainly worth seeing.Have given my copy of the DVD to our younger daughter (and her boyfriend) to get their take on it).Tom Hanks is really very good as Col.Tom Parker & the kid who played Elvis deserved his Bafta and probably an Oscar too.

Silver screen this week was She Said a film about the New York Time's investigation into serial pervert and abuser Harvey Weinstein. Oh well we'll go anyway as I said to the wife
Excellent film. Well acted good storytelling and God he was a nasty piece of work.
9/10. Doing badly at the box office which is a shame.

The Bucket List (2007)

The first time the term "bucket list" was in the public consciousness!

The screenplay, written by Justin Zackham, coined the expression “Bucket List,” after Zackham wrote his own “List of Things to do Before I Kick the Bucket”, and shortened it to “Justin’s Bucket List.” The first item on his list was to “get a film made at a major studio.” This list gave him the idea for the screenplay, and “The Bucket List” became his first studio film.

Tangled up in Blue..........You asked me a couple of questions a while back.

Woody Allen started his career at The Catskills (a great place for wonderful Jewish humour).
Woody's films are hit and miss.

Moving on to "The Fabelmans" it would have been great if it had been a rags to riches story (As per Alan Sugar).

Speilberg's films are also hit and miss "West Side Story" wasn't any good either.
Of course it lacked the fabulous Elmer Bernstein's music which contributed to the original film being a classic.

His remake had Spanish being spoken but no subtitles!

Oh by the way "All Quiet On The Western Front" has returned to some London cinemas.

Would agree that WA's films are "hit and miss"-especially where the UK market is concerned ,though they're stiill popular in Yerp.

Don't agree about The Fablmens or WSS either for that matter.Though it certainly wasn't as good as the original.

Thanks for the info about All quiet. So there'0s still hope!

I saw this film at the cinema in 2021 and I have just seen it again on Amazon Prime...An excellent relationship film...1677767407515.png
