England vs Pakistan Test Series

:) Not really, but certain posts were are massive over reaction.
Perhaps, though I think the lack of confidence our top order is showing at the moment is worrying enough. Australia's bowling attack isn't much better than Pakistan's, if at all. Their batting is a hell of a lot better though and if we're going to go out there with a 4 man attack then we're going to need consistent contributions from these guys, much more so than they're showing at the moment. I know these pitches have been lively and the weather hasn't helped but nonetheless, can any of our batsmen stand up and say they've proven their test class this summer?

I still have faith and I would stick with this team as it is but it's worrying that our next test after this is the Ashes opener.

The form of all the top 6 (Trott excepted) is a bit worrying, however I doubt if the selectors or coach will change much. Bell will go to Australia as the 7th batsman, but they'll play 6 plus Prior. The Pakistan attack is IMO more potent than the convict one, and they'll normally go into a test match with only four front line bowlers. However it's probably fair to say that they have better back up bowlers in Watson & North than England, I also expect Mitchell Johnson to be more of a threat in Oz than he has been in England. I'm not convinced (Ponting aside) that Australia are a much better batting side.

To answer your question I think all our batsman (maybe Morgan aside) are test class, they've just been below par this summer. I think the team playing today at Lords will be the team that will walk out at the Gabba in 3 months.

World record 8th wicket Test partnership, top draw stuff from Trott and Broad! Currently 323.

Broad has also beaten his old mans highest Test score!

This is incredible - what the hell have these two been eating, drinking and breathing, and where can I get some?

Sounds like the Pakistanis are starting to get a bit ragged too - if we keep this up it's 500 easy, almost certain for 450.

Pakistan have basically given up!

If Trott gets to a double ton he will be the first player EVER to score 2 double's at Lords in test matches! I've never seen a turnaround like this, amazing stuff.

THe records are now tumbling, the Sky stat man is having multiple orgasms.

Highest partnership for any wicket for England against Pakistan
Test match record score for the 8th wicket.
Stuart Broad scores his maiden first class & test century, and beats his dad's highest test score of 162 in the process.
Broad's score is the highest ever by an England number 9.

Another 6 runs and Broad will beat Ian Smith's 173 for New Zealand in 1990
The world record for the 8th wicket is 413
If Trott scores 200 he'll become the first batsman to score two test match double centuries at Lords.

Blimey.

Just started wondering if Strauss will start considering the declaration soon, given that this is the first innings and there's 2 days left.

Might as well let Broad and Trott carry on until Lunch, then declare. Would be nice to see both get 200 but I think at the current rate that's slow.

Feel sorry for him, 4 more to get the most for a no 9 batsmen. Declare now I say.

They won't declare now. England will want to keep Pakistan in the field for as long as possible, they may declare if they reach 500. Play can go through until 7pm tonight and tomorrow to make up for lost time on Thursday. Bear in mind England are 2-1 up and Pakistan need to force a win to square the series, so the onus isn't on England to help them.

Yep spot on, we don't need to win but there is still plenty of time to bowl 'em out twice!!;)
