He has for a number of reasons tried every formation, many different 11's, plan b's and even plan c's and yes with limited success. We all would have in his shoes - he has been searching for the answer! He might not have found it yet, but a manager of his experience will have an idea of what's needed. He is best placed to sort this out.

I voted stay. I accept that PB/RM have probably got it wrong with their over reliance on older, experienced players who quite probably have seen better days. However, most of us thought that these pre season signings did nothing but improve our squad and that we would be up there challenging. Looking back, it obviously hasn't worked, but shouldn't PB/Ron be given the opportunity to put things right. This transfer window gives this opportunity and surely PB, the man that works with this group of players on a daily basis, is the person most likely to know what's needed

I don't agree hence trying to understand why anyone would vote for PB to stay, but thanks for posting your reasons - we should all be entitled opinions however they vary - UTB

The whole point of making polls public (this is usually done by the poll starter at the start of the thread) is so anyone can see them.

There is an option to keep the votes private in which case no-one can see how anyone voted.

Both of the polls quoted were public.

I do not have an agenda, I have an opinion --- a big difference.

Have you visited any other fan's forum when things are going wrong ? You should try it.

The Zone has been going for the last 16 - ish years and from time to time the tone can be crap when the team are doing badly, the same way it is a joyous place when things are good.

Is it better to have a lynch-mob mentality on here or would you prefer the same mentality at games, putting the players off their game even more ?

I didn't say you personally had an agenda. I said that the thread has an agenda. That being to get as many people to vote in favour of what the poll starter wants. No issue with that. No issue with the names of pollsters being public, if that's how people feel it should be done. Big issue with individual posters being called out as if they need to explain why they voted. Big no no for me.

I'm not interested in other fans forums, but I am interested in ours.

It's a better place with reasoned debate. Utopian view, possibly, but it's bordering on cyber bullying at times and that isn't right or fair.

On the lynch mob point. I don't think there is a lynch mob mentality at games, which says all the needs to be said about how people generally feel, I think.

So, basically, if there's a lynch mob mentality here, then there wouldn't be at the game?

Some of the chants at today's game were a total embarrassment. Support the team during the match, let your personal feelings known during the interval or at the end.

Maybe that says more about people's overall opinions than any poll on here.

Regarding the lynch mob mentality , I asked you a question --- please reply rather than twist my words.

Kay, people have said TangoMan shoots down the tunnel immediately after the whistle.

He wouldn't hear comments in the dressing room.

I didn't hear any chants against a player. Did you?

I've always backed Brown, but I do think enough is enough now. I think he's lost the players and the majority of the supporters. For the sake of the club, I think Ron has to make that change now.

How do you possibly work that out, John? It was the Crewe Paint Pot Trophy final that, had we won, you could probably rightly say he "stole". Winning the play offs two years later can't possibly be attributed to Paul Sturrock! That was Brown's team, and he, along with them, rightfully deserves the credit for our win and the associated glory.

Who was there today, unusually I think, for an away game.

I don't think John likes him much.

Well he doesn't know his best 11, best formation and has no plan B. His man management skills are worse than awful. What makes your think he will get players in the transfer window that will change our season for the better?

Again, this is getting ridiculous. Highly likely he does know his best 11. Highly likely he does know his best formation. Highly likely he does and always has had a plan B. The question is only whether or not those three things are going to be good enough for the rest of the season. Can he bring in personnel to make an improvement? There has been plenty of evidence to show that he can or could, just as he has before. It always amazed me how he got us promoted despite his lack of man-management, inability to bring in the right players, inability to choose the right formation, clueless nature, failure to make subs at the right time, loss of the dressing room, blahdy blah, etc!

Personally, I do think we need a fresh impetus as we seem to be in a bit of trouble but I'm not about to start re-writing history about one of the most successful managers we've had at SUFC.

Looked like a rhetorical question to me, Ken, but sure, if you want an answer.

I don't think it's good to have a lynch mob mentality at a match or on here or anywhere in life on any subject.

Sure, protest your view before the game, support the team during it and protest after. No problem with that, if change is what is needed. Public opinion will dictate how successful that is.

There's a difference between having an opinion on a subject and giving it so people can hear it and going the step further of making those opposed feel like their opinion is worthless and laughable.

I'd draw the line at that, on any debating platform.

Please reply when you've read this. :winking:

Let's be brutally honest here. This season has been dreadful. We have a team full of decent players who aren't able or willing to play together. We have no tactics. We aren't even entertaining when we win. Its horrible anti football. There is nothing worse than playing anti football and still losing.

I've not gone to games and called for managers to be sacked since the days of Dick Bate, and I wont start now. That solves nothing and helps no-one. It'll very quickly become toxic if we start that (but I can see it happening on Saturday).

Now, I've met PB on several occasions. He's always been polite, and I rate him as the best "football person" I've met (and frankly, I've met more than my fair share). I've really wanted him to succeed. Really.

But, you know. Everything has to come an end. And we've reached that point where something has to change or we are "looking forward" to playing Crawley and Morecambe next season.

So regardless of what it takes, Ron now needs to step up to the plate and do the best thing for everyone concerned.

Time to go Phil.

I agree, he's personable, speaks really well and yet also connects with you on a much more personal level when you talk to him.
