nope he is out of contract in the summer - so we dont have to waste money paying him off and paying for his replacement ..

btw that emoji thing you used is called "dim"

He will take us down to L2 then go when his contract is up in the summer. Get rid now, pay him off and stay in L1. What would you prefer?

I know the emoji was dim, there you go

I think John feels that PB took over Sturrock's side, added nothing to it and got the promotion that Sturrock deserved but never attained.

Whether that's right or wrong is open to question, of course and probably doesn't stand up to close scrutiny.

Have been reading the different "Brown out" threads with interest and would just add a couple of observations:

1. A lot of people want Brown out but have been unable to come up with realistic and affordable replacements for him. If the players don't respect the current manager (if the rumours are true...) then why would they respect Tilson or Coughlan who have not got the same level of managerial experience as Brown has. Surely we will be going with an experienced currently out of work manager...

2. There are no first team players who are remotely irreplaceable so if they are not committed to the club and want to hand in transfer requests, I would say accept the request and let them go. The senior first teamers who are on the most money are the ones, in the main, who have let us down time and time again. To blame Brown solely is to let these experienced well paid professionals off the hook!
I quite agree with this ,i do believe a change off management is warranted and by that not just PB but coughlan and Horton etc ,also i do believe there are some players (who call themselves proffessionals ) but act like they are bigger than the club that should be dispersed with ( not just Ranger ), New manager ,and start afresh, clearly now the mandate must be to avoid relegation and to reunite the dressing room .

We were promised a squad that had quality put before quantity. What we got was a bunch of players wringing out the last kudos of their more illustrious past. Players that know what to do but whose bodies have long since given up being able to. Players that seem to think that going through the motions is enough to justify their wage.

PB did not bring the crocks and has beens in on purpose. He thought they could still do a job. A lot of managers, at all levels, have made the boo boo and bought a duff player. Hindsight is a wonderful thing but I cannot recall the last time a manger bought so many in at one time. Calamitous.

Those players have let the manager down and more importantly us. But the manager is paid to get it right and when he doesn't he can look no further than himself for culpability. PB convinced the chairman and tried to sell his dream to the fans. He has failed. Not just a small **** up but a right royal F**k up. It has destroyed any semblance of unity in the team and massively divided the fan base. He has put us on the threshold of the drop and what does he do? Does he say sorry, I messed up, its time to move on? No. He says give me more money and you can trust me to sort it out. If RM falls for that one I will be extremely disappointed in his judgment. Indeed, if he does extend PB's tenure to the end of the season, I will accept any and all conspiracy theories about it because there would have to be some extreme machinations going on behind the scenes.

Thank you for your efforts PB. Now give this club what it wants. Your resignation.

As we have run out of players now there is nothing else he can do to change things -whatever he tries it fails.

Unfortunately Phil we don't play Charlton reserves every week. You can rattle on about mentality all you like but when the basic ability isn't there you're never going to get the mentality right. Whatever you think Phil a good mentality won't make up for a lack of ability or organisation.

Why should we trust you to make decent signings to strengthen the squad - not one of your signings in 2017 has set the world alight or has been an improvement on what we had before and Hendrie couldn't even make the bench today when Elvis was the only other defender left fit.

Go now and give someone else a chance -you've run out of ideas completely with your boring sterile tactics - every one has sussed them out. You got lucky last year on the back of Ranger and Wordsworth. One couldn't hack it anymore and the other's got the hump and the results just reflect what is was like without them.

It's such an impossible job managing a team in old money div 3 div 4. Cast your mind back to JPT final at Wembley. Crewe played us off the park with their young homegrown players. Crewe now in the bottom 4 div 4. The only way up unfortunately is proper cash from the owner/owners which we don't have. IMHO

If you are going to come on here spouting your reasonable opinions instead of idiotic, biased rubbish then go and support West Ham!

(For the knuckle-draggers which seem to increasingly fill this site, this is "sarcasm". Ok sarcasm means....oh Google it. Ok Google is....time for bed. UTB .)

Shrewsbury seem to be doing well with very little cash... Bury got bank rolled in pre season and they are bottom. Money does help but passion, pace and a mix of experience and youth will make you competitive in this league.

Such a good appraisal great post

And this is exactly what seems to be missing from our lot at the moment.

I wasn't going to post on this, but calling out people on the way they voted is bang out of order, IMHO.

Have your pointless poll, but don't question why people vote the way they do.

Jeez, what a train wreck this forum is at the moment!

Very sad to see. :thumbdown::sad:
personally I like knowing the logic behind an opinion. Many a time I have had a different opinion to someone, but once They have explained their view of have changed my opinion. I certainly don’t think the other person is an idiot simply because they disagree with the majority view.

Yes, but you know how to address an alternative opinion 'united' and consequently a good discussion then ensues, as myself and yourself have had on other threads with each other.

It may cost Ron a lot more to get rid of Phil than a normal manager under contract as he would also have to purchase back the shares he gave him.

http://www.echo-news.co.uk/sport/13...holder_when_he_signs_new_three_year_contract/
The article mentions the share price is related to league position and rewards success. I would guess with our current position the shares are worth very little/ worthless. I see it as a European style option with each league position having a different price and expiry being the date he leaves ( or something similar).

I still think with Brown in charge we should comfortably stay up wth a couple of additions. We’ve just lost our best player and maybe (technically) our best forward. I always think consistency is better than sacking. Brown and his teams has been in these slumps before (maybe a little worse this time) but has always found a way somehow out of it.

IMO the players looked up for it yesterday, team handle and celebrating together. Get those extra couple of bodies in and we have reset and are good to go again.

Once safely at the end of season with L1 survival...Ron can decide if Brown is best place to take us forward. The next contract offered to a manager (Brown or other) will most likely be the manager that takes us into the new era and stadium. Could Barrett/Maher ect say anything today that will bring back old players legs or stop the youngsters making mistakes....probs not.

If the fans got behind the team (regardless of manager) we have a real chance I change our league position over the next 6 games.

I cannot understand the logic that the man who got us into this mess with a bunch of ill advised signings, a rigid, negative game plan and an oversized ego (the next England manager when he was in charge at Hull let us remember) is the man to be trusted to get us out of it and given money to spend in order to achieve it. Surely Martin can see the folly of allowing this disaster any more leeway. It's not just the Northampton game, this crisis has been developing for months for all to see. It defies belief that there has been no contingency planning for the axe to fall.

Got us into League one you mean after languishing in League 2 for years and only narrowly missed play offs last year?

He deserved some leeway after his achievements here, even if Brown bashers want to write them all off as luck. Ron has never been one to

That said I can't see him lasting much longer.
