Definitely would, because the family values of this club are more important to me than a promotion season brought about by Ranger.

The club should apologise to the fans and release Ranger from his rolling contract.

Next the club, in conjunction with the family groups of supporters only, should put this type of ugly situation to bed once and for all. They should produce a Southend United decency and standards code for new players coming in - that defines exactly the minimum standard of character and personal history we expect from all our new players.

What about Timlin? He is an ex-convict.

Where do you draw the line?

I wouldnt want McCormick here, but Im not so against Ranger, although Im fully expecting him to mess up.

Agree with this .... there but by the grace of god ( which ever one you believe in or not ) go us all

Just met mate of mine Swindon supporter and they were gutted to lose him - brilliant player but obviously has issues which Swindon manager would not tolerate

Are you self employed?
If not have you checked with your HR department that they have a similar code in place. I assume that they must have or else you would have resigned on principle. Afterall those guys you work with and like and maybe even respect could have a kess than perfect past for all you know if such a code is not in place?

In my opinion what people have done in the past whilst not a Southend United player is irrelevant. If they decide to misbehave, commit crimes or cause issues while at the club then they can go. Ranger has done nothing wrong (as yet) and should have everyone's full support. He is a hell of a talent and we are very lucky to have him if he can keep on the straight and narrow he could help us go up or earn us a decent pay cheque. If it goes pear shaped then we have the relevant clauses to ditch him at the first sign of an issue. I myself can't see what the problem is.

Just wondering, I thought we had signed a roadman. The outcry on here I must have been wrong and we've just signed one of Jimmy Savile's co-conspirators.

Actually taking the moral high ground and then getting something done about it is a hard thing to do in this generally spineless society.

What message are we sending out to the women and children who support our club now, and in the future?

I want him out of my club NOW!

As a female supporter of the club I have read what he has said, and what others have said both in the past and more recently. As a female supporter I am prepared to give him the benefit of believing when he says he wants to put his past behind him and that he has had a wake up call. As a female supporter of the club I am never going to excuse his past behaviour BUT I am going to give him the chance to prove that our faith in him has not been wasted.

You do realise studies have shown that if a 'man' physically assaults a woman, he will almost certainly go on to be violent again.

There are a lot of people burying their heads in the sand on this forum, so they can cheer on a perceived half decent player. Shame.

I totally understand your stance and therefore accept your resignation from this site and your decision to no longer suport Southend and to find a new team to follow...

You are the real David Icke.....I claim my 5 pounds:Worthy:

I don't know much about how he plays, is he fast? big shots? pen box poacher? heads well?runs the channels? understand the offside rule? play as trad No.9?
On field antics, does he track back? close down? tackle? take free kicks? get gobby with refs?
Does he talk to the supporters, sign autographs for kids, pose with OBL?

These are the unknowns that I want to have answered.

It's then not much of a bigger step to think about applying that to supporters - please bring your dbs check to all matches:stunned:

why did you metnion the offside rule :winking:

One of my very reliable and respected Barnsley supporter friends has just sent me this impassioned Facebook message:

"Nile Ranger training at Roots Hall. I'm keeping everything crossed for you that you don't sign him. The biggest waste of space that has ever pulled on a Barnsley shirt. And he's got some pretty stiff competition!"

Sounds good to me ............................................... :moon:

PB says that he looked very impressive in training.

Yep, I've not been there since this seasons training has started, but the word coming out is that he's been the most impressive player so far. One said a bit like Barry Corr, but much better, faster, and more skillful.
Only trouble is, fans of Newcastle and Barnsley say once he loses interest, he becomes a non trier and useless. Hopefully that's all in the past, and we have a real quality player on our hands.

This could be a good signing. As they say beggars cant be choosey, so got to be worth a go. Dodgy past but in my mind he starts with a clean sheet in my book, if he settles he could be a gem at this level. Roll on start of season !!

Think him and Tyrone are similar in as much as they can be brilliant at this level if they put the effort in week in week out. Their desire to do that once they have secured a contract and feel comfortable is the big question mark.
