Do you think we'll go back to Shrewsbury with a deadline day offer (next to nothing) for Barnett? Would be a powerful frontline him and Ranger.

That could be an attractive option.........it could also be a horrible train crash. Never a dull moment following Southend eh?

Don't want Nile at my club. What a disgrace to humanity. Probable woman beater.
probable woman beater , what a nasty thing to say, unless you have evidence of this you should keep your nasty thoughts and dirty mouth to yourself ,not post things like that in public. And i can name probably millions of people who were more of a disgrace to humanity than Nile Ranger,.PB is willing to give the lad another chance ,so im willing to also and wish him every luck, i would like to think that as a supposedly SUFC SUPPORTER YOU WOULD TOO.I suppose you have never eered in you life.

Quote from the BBC website - "The CCTV, taken in the early hours of 13 April, also appeared to show Ranger hitting his female companion three times in the face."

So the nasty one is?

Personally speaking, I want to know these sort of things about the players whose wages I contribute to.

It sounds to me as if Brown and Martin have taken all steps necessary with this signing to ensure that the club can legally get rid at the first sign of trouble. That's very sensible and it's good to know that the club is protected in the event of Ranger slipping back to his old ways. This will surely be his last chance, if he messes up then he's likely finished. If he recognises that (as he says he does) then this could potentially be a real coup for this football club as the lad is clearly very talented. We're desperate for a goalscorer so in my view this deal is definitely worth a shot. Yes I'd be very concerned if there were no clauses inserted to protect the club in the event of misbehaviour but it's been made very clear at any early stage that there are - if things go wrong then Ranger's feet won't touch the ground with Brown. Sometimes you have to roll the dice, especially small clubs like ours who don't have the luxury of a large budget.
Any evidence to support this ?

Disgusting actions. Sadly, if he puts the ball in the back of the net, all will be forgiven for most fans.

This is pretty damning actually, for those saying "give him a chance" I doubt you would be saying that if it was your daughter he had punched.

Seems to be a case of "insufficient evidence", the girl probably refused to give evidence, no prosecution does not mean the guy isn't a total douche bag.

Thought about listing all his disgusting actions over the years - and I wouldn't mind betting there are other ones too.

The list would make a case for morally decent supporters to get behind, so we can have him ejected from this football club immediately - and get our credibility back as a family orientated club.

And if he were your son? Would you give up him, disown him? Or would you be asking all and sundry to give him another chance?

The club have seemingly taken steps to ensure that they can drop him like a stone should it become obvious that he has not changed his ways.

It's easy to take the moral high ground, maybe we should try a bit harder to give individuals another chance?

All businesses judge employee's on their moral make up and background. before employing them. That is part of the application process. I suggest very few employee's in or out of football would employ him even given we have put conditions on his contract, which are purely for our own protection to offload him should he step out of line yet again!!

My opinion is that the club like many many others should NOT have employed him. He has been given numerous chances already!!!

The club is a family club and should NOT employ such a character with an appalling past.....

Actually taking the moral high ground and then getting something done about it is a hard thing to do in this generally spineless society.

What message are we sending out to the women and children who support our club now, and in the future?

I want him out of my club NOW!

It is just possible that Nile Ranger has turned his life around. Give him a chance to demonstrate that. If he has got his act together, he could be a key player for us this season.

The Victors and Victorias are out in force today- must be the weather..
A poll of 750 supporters has shown the majority (61%) say give him a chance. It is true everyone is not as perfect as some of our fans and don't live the same saintly lives. And we certainly don't live in a tolerant society- increasingly the opposite regrettably. But he has signed, and the majority of fans appear to support that, so let's judge him as we find him over the coming days, weeks and months..

I dont really care much if this young man has turned his life around or not. If he has, good luck to him, i just wish he would turn it round somewhere else.

Blimey. Fans with morals. Whatever next. He's done his time. He's not a role model for anyone.
It would appear he hasn't done his time with regard to the woman beating, have you actually watched that video and listened to the news report ? Just because the CPS couldn't put a case together doesn't mean he's innocent, in fact the footage is crystal clear, if the woman would have testified he would have had another conviction.

Take a look then come back and tell me he deserves another chance.

No way would I back my son if he did the things this clown has done. You have to earn the right to a second or in his case fourth/fifth chance and I don't see any evidence that he has changed his ways.

No-one is saying his past beaviour been acceptable but the significant majority of fans (including me) say give him a chance and he is with us. Move on.
