Indeed, he is hardly going to turn up on his first day and be lazy, etc. The proof in the pudding will be can he maintain his application and attitude for 9 months, week in week out through good spells and bad.

Think him and Tyrone are similar in as much as they can be brilliant at this level if they put the effort in week in week out. Their desire to do that once they have secured a contract and feel comfortable is the big question mark.

Think Ranger firing on all cylinders will about 10x Tyrone firing on all cylinders tbh

Shouldn't we just have a thread called. Controversy, Blues make a signing, any signing.

One of my very reliable and respected Barnsley supporter friends has just sent me this impassioned Facebook message:

"Nile Ranger training at Roots Hall. I'm keeping everything crossed for you that you don't sign him. The biggest waste of space that has ever pulled on a Barnsley shirt. And he's got some pretty stiff competition!"

What's his/her view on Phil Gridelet?

My friend was quite young when Gridelet was around but I'll ask him. I remember that Andy Rammell was one of his favourite players when my friend was a teenager and he was quite sad to lose him when he signed for us, as were a lot of Barnsley supporters, including his Dad , who used to work with me. Certainly, Rammell was never as good a player with us as he was at Barnsley so there's every possibility that the same could be true in the opposite way when it comes to Ranger, I suppose.

I wonder if PB will play Nile as the Lone Ranger upfront. Would be a shame as he always performed better with Tonto by his side.
If he is a bit slow he can also rely on Silver to get him into the action:winking:

keep up mate, we've covered this ages ago. we now only discuss the finer aspects of his moral character

Tut, tut, his character has been "done" too, only thing left is his play and football; which seems to be short of many points of discussion.

Indeed - we have had matches played that resulted in 2 or 3 pages of comments ........ and then some matter concerning the crowd, say, that results in over a baker's dozen pages. :nope:

Perhaps the Great Wakering game will allow some of the void re his footballing talent and style to be filled.

I've got a reply from my Barnsley friend about Gridelet. He never saw him play because Gridelet was injured when they signed him for big money and made only 6 first-team appearances in 3 years. The Barnsley supporters called him 'God' because they knew he existed but never saw him.

(I know this is off topic but am responding to a fellow poster's question.)

Apparently, according to a bristol city fan on twitter, they have two trialists today, Frimpong and Nile Ranger,
Either he has not signed that one month contract, he is completely disregarding it or its another load of BS on twitter....

Really hope that Emmanuel Frimpong and Nile Ranger impress enough as triallists today to earn permanent deals #BristolCity
