Fair comment, but why then go on to mention other information about the case in our statement.

The club have a responsibility to back our player, for the moment, whilst also being clear to emphasise that this alleged incident took place before Nile was employed by us.

A simple two line statement would have sufficed.

1) Nile is charged with this.
2) We have nothing more to add, except the he continues to be employed, as normal, by SUFC.

Can you imagine the reaction on here if they had issued your 1 and 2 above and left it at that. There would have been riots on the virtual streets of SZ. At least they got a statement out today and not just before midnight, truthfully I wasn't expecting one until tomorrow.

I think the statement is offering up information about Nile Ranger's current predicament and status within the club without any further opinion on events that have not yet happened. They would probably think it inappropriate to mention any co-conspirators as they are not employees of the club. I would be amazed if that statement had not been vetted by the club's legal eagle(s).

I'd be amazed if that statement had been vetted by anyone.

No problem with a statement being issued promptly.

My 1) and 2) were not how I would have worded it verbatim, as I would have quoted the exact charges laid upon his door, proving we are fully aware of the case now and then emphasized our support of him at this time, as an innocent employee of the club.

The national press are all over this, looking to take a pot shot at an easy target (one with "previous").

I do think our statement covered the above, but could have been worded better and was a bit haphazard, mentioning some of the known details of the charges, but not all of them.

Oh good news, we have a resident wordsmith/proof reader.... I'll pass the news on to the leagal department at SUFC, they are looking for someone like your good self.

Lack of attention to detail and also poor quality has blighted the club in it's published statements for some while. If you're happy with that, fine ! It must be good to have low standards, you will rarely be disappointed.

(I was wondering if your misspelling of legal was deliberate or not, I'm going for not.)

Unfortunately you rather ruin your point with at least two grammatical errors in the first line above.....

But surely it was the elderly that voted to ruin young people's lives and voted for brexit right? So why does it matter about her? Come on you soft leftie bstards make your minds up , who the guilty here!

No one knows yet Ranger's alleged involvement in this matter and until we do and his guilt or innocence is proven I will reserve judgement on it

However the seriousness of the charge should not be underestimated and if proven it will lead doubt to a custodial sentence.

Making jokes of elderly or vulnerable victims being fleeced of cash and the impact it has subsequently on them is certainly not right.i hope none of our relatives have or will suffer a similar fate.

Moderator, please move politically charged comments like this to the politics forum, or alternatively, can we have a dislike button as well as a like one?( my preference).
To be fair to Jai the Mail historically supported the Nazis and to boycott the Mail is a historically patriotic stance to take.

Aside from that they consistently lie and put a particular miserable spin on stories, so it makes perfect sense to ask if a story is covered in a newspaper that you can believe rather than make do with one that you can't.

Shrimperzone never fails to brighten ones day.....some of the comments on this thread are hilarious, I wont name names, but I'm sure as hell not worried by this story in the slightest.
Seriously for the amount of money quoted does anyone really believe that Nile will be sacked after he "goes down" for this henious crime??....yeah I know fraud is fraud, and I would hate for it to have been my family conned out of 2 k, but this alleged crime was hardly Brinks Mat!!
There are pro's plying their trade out there who have done far worse, lets back the guy who is trying to turn his life around with us, who, when he is back to his best, may make us a tidy profit in the transfer market, and the only club laughing will be us.

In your jaundiced one-eyed left wing opinion. I had left wing views when I was young, but then I grew up.

Crimes against the vulnerable and the weak are sick and evil. I have never encountered someone who has done something like this and now, if found guilty, I'm going to have to watch this evil strut its stuff on the pitch. If you're guilty Ranger, then get the hell out of my club. You were lucky not to go down for punching that woman.

Your club??? Don't some of us sensible fans own a little?

Do you not like him? Because you've never mentioned it.
