Lets not argue folks............... This dates back to Niles silly days which is bound to catch up with him (it always does). lets wait and see the facts and how it pains out. Hopefully they're very much his dark days and the only thing on his mind now is football which does seem to be the case. As an attacking threat we're not the same without him and we all know that a level headed Nile Ranger is a class act.

I agree. Get him to visit all the schools in the borough and tell them that crime doesn't pay and he's lucky he has a second chance.

I think you're probably right. Whatever posters personal views on Ranger, we are not going to be any wiser regarding the court case until next year. Until that time he has my unconditional support whilst playing for the team and I'll think about any court outcomes when they have happened.

Interesting that the same old 'told you so's' are appearing on here already. I bet those poor tortured souls have been really upset that the team have been on fire, and Phil Brown has turned things round. This story must have made their day. As for other clubs' message boards, who gives a ****.

I'm fairly confident this will all blow over. Its a nothing story without a famous face to add to it. Not condoning the crime but this is rife in society. My gut feel and feedback from people who know him is that he isn't bright enough to have led this scam. Most likely involved by association only and during a bad period. His current reformation will be taken into account in any sentencing.

I have every confidence the club will stick with him, including playing him saturday

If £2,000 had been taken from a member of my family by a group of lads I'd want the maximum possible punishment thrown at them.

Unfortunately, just because Nile Ranger is a good footballer and it could have an adverse effect on the team I support I can't change the view that IF he is guilty any punishment he receives is deserved. It's up to his employer to decide if they want to terminate his contract or if they wish to allow him to continue his rehabilitation once he has served whatever is thrown at him.

Id like to think that Nile has turned a corner in his life. I'm not saying his past is great, but we all need a chance in life. From what I've seen, he looks up to PB and the back room staff and is grateful for what they've done for him. The guy has quality, we can all see that and he's the difference from being in 8th and pushing on into the top 6 or even higher.

In some ways, he reminds me of a younger Stan who went through hard times.

Given the fact that the proverbial ink is still not sufficiently dry on the new 3 1/2 year contract I would surely expect that this has not only just come to light as of today? RM must have known of this pending court case, and done the 'DD' meaning there must be some doubt of Nile's involvement?

Would be surprised too if RM's lawyers aren't already on the case and will give full representation in court given the investment the club has already committed to... and the club also needs to show support by picking him on Saturday!!

The report states that this happened back in February, did the club know of the possible police interest when the new contract was put together I wonder? It will be interesting to see how may pages this thread goes to.

Cant just brush bad news under the carpet because we dont like it.

If he is found guilty of this and he deserves whatever sentence he gets, he shouldn't get any leniency just because he has now found a club willing to give him a chance.

Until then should carry on as normal, innocent until proven innocent and all that.

We gave him a chance and so far he has been no trouble at all.

Ranger is undoubtedly paid more than the majority of Southend fans earn to do a job they can only dream of he and is a role model to boot.

'No trouble at all' is the very least we should demand.
