As in the will Atkinson thread I will once again give you the fact that most of the players dislike PB. let me admit I was very pro brown last season....until I was educated on the man....he is a fraud at best.

Far more surprised at this than I was with Atkinson, perhaps because we just 'lost' Will a couple of days ago. It is worrying, but it's also early days and maybe the management feel they can get better players/more value for money. Time will tell.

Coughlan: "There’s no denying that this is a big loss for us. I think it’s important we thank Tommo for his efforts and what he helped us to achieve. Every single club loses players during the summer and we will have to make sure we recruit well to replace Tommo now.""

Last summer people had us down for being relegated and we finished a point outside of the play offs.

Im not sure this season was a failure unless people actually thought promotion was the minimum. We did better than the season before so we made progress despite missing out.

I do agree when my mind is most charitable, but my heart tells me from our position with eight games to go, we blew a massive opportunity. Not quite the capitulation of the previous season but still it felt the extra grit required was lining the potholes of the RH car park.

I know we can be happy with an ever improving position but somehow it doesn't do a lot to relieve the disappointment. We started the season appallingly and finished it poorly. There are no medals given out for looking good in the middle of a race.

have to ask the management that has got so much of the underlying issues wrong with the out of contract players .....the man management has been way off the mark?

its not like they have gone upwards ... Bury just missed relegation and Mansfield are lower.....this just doesn't sit right?

They are both brilliant professionals....unlike the manager who has poor standards.

On the one hand annoyed by this as we seem very lax on getting contracts signed up early, but then again I do know personally Adam wasn't on very much and will have taken more money and the longer security plus signing on fee. You never know whether players with a year to go just let their contracts wind down and don't sign as it gives them more options and potential higher wages for a new club.

At the end of the day short career and they have to do what is best for them financially.

On the footballing front wasn't bothered about Atkinson, Thommo a bigger loss because of one good season last year, but he has had lots of shoulder problems in the past and think Ferdy had a big impact on his composure this season. This all comes down to who we get in and how much ambition we show.

Lenny and Coker on the other hand will be massive losses.

Am i the only thinking we could improve on Thomson and Atkinson therefore offered them miserly contracts or should i be wildly overreacting on 1st June too?

Who on earth will we play at center back on Sat? AAAHHHHHHH!!!! The world is over!

Ferdinand just tweeted that he will miss Thompson around the place. Sounds positive for Anton and if I had to choose between the two it would be Anton every day

Up to a point I agree. Atkinson was solid but easily replaceable.

Thompson is frustrating as he was progressing really well but there a plenty of centre backs of a similar standard. I find it quite amusing that there are people on here who complained bitterly last season that Barrett should have been playing ahead of Thompson now see Thompson leaving as the end of the world.

I would rather Thompson had stayed but can hardly get het up about him leaving.

Possibly more difficult to sell the club to a potential new signing?. Management can speak of their ambitions, plans etc, nucleus of a promotion winning team. But when asked why 2 prolific members of last seasons team, have left to join lower ranked teams, what's their answer?.

Sad we have lost Thomo and Wil especially when they have gone to Bury and Mansfield. Not feeling very positive at the moment !
