Post-Match Thread and Ratings York City 3-0 Southend United

I feel like some like Kyle Taylor or James Olayinka would fit in well. Both free agents. Pedder who we had on trial in the summer still hasn't got a club

Currently; Husin is looking poor, Morton hit and miss, Coker OK, Miley way off it, KAF hardly got a proper sniff, Moncour not the right fit.
This is what is frustrating me with Maher. Husin and Miley have been poor for a while, but still continue to get picked, yet KAF doesn't get a run in the side.

I would like to us to start with Morton, Coker and KAF in the middle Boxing Day, but knowing Maher, he's drop Morton or Coker and bring Husin in!!

If footballers are like athletes, and I suspect there's an overlap - they have highs and lows.
As an athlete of 46 years, believe me, it goes up and down!
Last season, was a high for ours for the reasons we all know.
How do fifth tier players keep that going?
They don't; that's why they play here, and that's why someone like Raheem Sterling continues to play in the top tier since 2012.
NL footballers constantly need new incentives, like a different club.
At this level, the new manager bounce lasts a game or two.
Frank Lampard has a 2W-1D-2L record at Coventry since he joined. He was meant to be the answer, and they are Championship players!
In short, last season's heroes are mostly spent: Bridge, Miley, Husin; even GSM has floundered; the new recruits are very average, Bim apart.
With respect, tactics and style is smoke and mirrors; quality footballers is not. We need them, if not now, certainly in January.

Probably not pulling up trees in training 🙄 as usually gets banded about. Who gives a ****, I listen to so many ex footballer podcasts and they talk about players being terrible trainers but electric on the pitch.

Take a ****ing gamble! If it doesn’t work, hook them off at half time.

Wouldn’t matter who we bring in, he won’t use them properly…..to not try KAF over the two old favourites is unforgivable, week after week, got to stand down!
Agree - the few times I’ve seen him, he’s been really positive and lively and you would think tricky to play against. Why only use him as a sub?

Completely agree, and we're not talking about one or two games. Miley hasn't been the same player since his injury last season and personally I now in the camp of get rid.

Husin has had the odd decent moment, but other than that, has also done nothing to warrant starting.

So I don't care what these 2 do in training, that doesn't get you points!

It has been mentioned elsewhere, but I'm sorry, I don't care how 'ITK' you might be, nobody is telling me Pepple can't play more than 63 minutes of football every ****ing week. Getting utterly tiresome these subs.
I might have missed it, but has Chris Phillips asked why Pepple doesn't last the entire 90 after 15 games bedding in?

The positive is York were struggling to avoid relegation last year. A summer with the owner investing the necessary £££ to rebuild and bring in quality has brought them to where they are now.
Don't forget we've not had the opportunity for a fresh start with the first choice signings we wanted for many a year now. We've had to scour less obvious sources and successfully unearthed a few gems. This January might be the first time under Kev, that we can actually target league players to help solve our crisis.

Having said that, from Pip's video, we didn't look too bad in the first half, created a few chances and a couple of blocks defensively. We've lost Cardwell and Kensdale, both of whom were excellent headers defensively from corners, and that's what cost us massively yesterday. Not once, not twice, but three times in close succession.

And why won't they start Pepple and Bonne?!

Pains me to say it, but, I think it's make or break for Kev over the next two games. And I don't know why people are calling for Harris, Barrett is much more the likely option.

Theoretically we could take both Harris and Barrett. For me that would be the ticket.
Two Southend fans and have been plying their trade at a significantly higher level for a few years now.

Well on the basis that Pepple is most unlikely to be with us next season, I don't see it really matters now we have Kendall who will be with us next season. Pepple has improved, but like Cardwell I can't see him being a prolific goalscorer.
Someone on here suggested that Luton may recall Pepple, suppose that has to be a possibility. Now we are allowed 5 subs and can actually fill the bench, using 4 forwards during the game is becoming the normal for quite a few Clubs.

Agree with you whole heartedly over the loss of Cardwell and Kensdale's aerial work.
But, York should have been ahead 2-0 by HT. They missed two sitters as they broke down our right in a Ponderosa of space.
Pepple should have gone for it early doors, but that's what we do going forward: dither....

Doubts creep in. Unasked for, uninvited. Through the smallest of gaps. And show themselves on people's faces, on their hands & in their stance. Once there they cannot be ignored
Good that @Rattus Norvegicus . I've googled it but can't find an attribution. If its yours you're wasted on here. There's no doubt you can see that doubt and fear in our lot. I used to wonder if it was the fear of getting the crowd on their backs but I've come to a reluctant and disappointing conclusion its fear of hysterical, arm waving, shouty responses from the dugout to anything outside the safe option.

We had several chances before they scored.

If Walker had crossed the ball early ( like they do for Pearce) then that defender wouldn't have got in front of Bim. If Crowther had just steered that free header in the same corner..... Just as they did twice.

Second half Bridge would have had free header at the far post.....Sadly JB never gets on the end of any of those crosses because he is never 'alive' at the far post. Then he placed a tame volley straight at the keeper. They go down the other end and show Jack how to volley a ball with purpose in almost the same sort of position.

After that it was always going to be more goals because we lack bottle when things go wrong up North. Then it become embarrassing to concede from 3 identical out swing corners. When was the last time we even scored from an out swinger ?

It should be obvious to everyone now that we're not going to make the play offs this seaon .Or as I suspect next season either. As such I'm convinced it would be a good time to have a change of manager now.
