Quite often, like yesterday, we don't know somebody is a terrorist until they commit an act of terrorism. Persecuting a group because a handful may become terrorists doesn't sit well with me.

If people are found to be Muslim extremists, preaching hate or planning terrorism then they should be charged (and if applicable extradited).

Using very rare terrorist attacks caused by very small numbers of religious extremists to influence major changes in our immigration policy is heavy-handed IMO. There are other more justified reasons to look at our immigration policy. We need to clamp down on extremism and that requires the support of the muslim community - divisive policies/media interpretation won't help and having the EDL chanting 'muzzy' and '****' etc at innocent british-muslims is going to do a **** load of damage.

I worry that the governments spin on this is to help them force through immigration policies and the communications data bill that was shelved.

I did find it odd that there was a Cobra meeting and all of the rhetoric was the kind where terrorists cells had been uncovered. What happened is shocking and disgraceful but if they were well organised terrorists they you would expect them to be more effective than to kill one person - I'd say they are two lunatics or very poor quality terrorists.

Plus the 2 nut jobs were on the authorities radar,They should of been lifted from the street ages ago without charge then thrown into jail and left to rot.

On what charges? Until they conspire to commit an act, there's not an awful lot the authorities could've done aside from pull them in for questioning.

That goes against the entire canon of British Law. This is not the 1970s. It would lead to dozens of highly unsafe prosecutions and do little more than to play into the extremist recruiting hands.

Aside from the couple of vocal examples we all know about, how do we know someone is an extremist before they commit a hateful crime?

Often our intelligence services foil plots before they happen, but that's due to those involved traveling frequently etc. But anyone can find a meat clever, knife and car to do what these two did, no terrorist training required. How could anybody know they'd do this beforehand? They couldn't.

Yesterday there were around 3 million Muslims in this country of which two commit their savage crime,Maybe there are many more plotting but it's needs perspective.
