When will the takeover go through? The Waiting Game...

If anyone officer or councillor has made their minds up prior to the DD then in my view they are not fit to be in office. If you read the council papers (thanks Liam) it is as plain as a pikestaff that the complexity of the deal, the legal and financial implications are beyond the layman and that is why specialist opinion is being sought. For me the Cortland report is the crucial one. If they say it's a bad deal for the council then we are ****ed. If they say it it's a good deal then it would be difficult for the council to argue against given the need for housing. In between who knows. I think the council can rightly be criticised for the time this is taken. They are taking the lead and should be driving it.
Secondly the consortium are not going to be sitting on their hands. Don't expect a running commentary from them though.
Strap yourselves down. It's going to get bumpy.
Outcome. How the sweet Jesus do I know.

As the council agreement is effectively delaying the transfer of the charges on RH to FF allowing RF to be given to the consortium . I wonder if the Consortium would be likely to take the club over before the deal on RH can get done without Ron / Thames Plaza charging rent on the place ?
I realise that this may well mean that the development / modernisation etc of RH would be delayed , as well as the future revenue streams leading to self sufficiency , which may mean a reduction in the budget and a probable "reining in" of our ambitions until the consortium do get their hands on RH. But it would mean that the club itself would be able to move on from the debts ?
This is exactly the type of question we/ the consortium should be asking: can we separate out the club from the stadium for the meantime.

I expect the sticking point is rent. If you’ve taken out security over Roots Hall then you aren’t likely to consent for the mortgagee to agree to forgo rent.

I don’t know if some sort of deal can be thrashed out where Ron agrees to pay the rent. The trouble is he’s a shocking credit risk and if he goes bust you’re left having to pay £400k an annum.

And actually, there's a fourth way... everything goes through and the deal gets done before the next hearing.

But I think that's even less likely than the third way.
That's the same as your option 2 really.

2 options I saw a few days ago were someone pays the debt or Stewart's withdraw the petition.

Thats not the delay is it?

At this point they're only buying the club and a 25 yr lease on RH.

Ownership of RH won't occur until full planning permission is granted at FF.

The new council leader Daniel Cowan is speaking on BBC Essex. He says he is speaking to Council officers today to get an update on the progress of Those words are banned procedure. He will then update the consortium and fans. He did warn that there could be issues flagged up when the DD is completed that would have to be addressed. He claimed that the previous administration under Tony Cox kept them in the dark regarding the FF issue. He also confirmed that Martin's are financing the DD!

Let’s hope we haven’t got weeks ahead with the council blaming each other while our club slowly dies

Or the rat clan not paying the DD bills so they don’t actually publish the results, seems more likely.

Been told the new council don’t want the deal it’s not going to happen not looking good

Just say someone who works at the council

Comprehensive, detailed posts such as the above are exactly what the fan base needs right now.

Certainly don't need any more of these unsubstantiated, random posts

" Yeah deals off!"
"How do you know?"
"Some bloke called Wingnut spoke to someone at the council"
"Oh"

Seems completely legit.

a politician blaming their predecessor?

I don't think he's blaming anyone. He just saying, as he has done consistently when asked, that he knows the same as everyone else on progress as he hasn't been kept updated on the full details. Of course, he has a one off chance for a reset- i.e. state precisely where we are at, what is outstanding, and how it gets delivered to a timeframe. He would be very foolish not to grab the opportunity to deliver some transparency.

He has consistently supported the deal already agreed cross party (note this is a DD process- the deal is agreed, all be it DD may throw up some unforeseen matters to be addressed).

The new administration supported the deal that is already done. This is a DD process that needs focus, urgency and competency to drive to a conclusion.

Next key point would be the council leaders statement/update later today.

No- they have just announced a target of 1.5m new homes over the next parliament.
I think we need to drop the politics- I would have a lot to say as no doubt would others but it won't resolve the issue at hand.

He said a couple of days to get their feet under the table on the radio. Wouldn’t expect anything today.

If this question has been asked before, apologies but

Let's assume planning permission is rejected, what is stopping Ron Selling Roots Hall to the Consortium?

Am I right in thinking that the land Roots Hall is on, is his bargaining chip for building at Fossetts and he is simply unwilling to let it go?

It's mortgaged to the hilt - so he'd need to sell for full market value to pay off the debt.
