SOUTHEND United boss Kevin Maher insists he is preparing normally for next season - despite the club's ongoing off-field issues.

Blues saw a winding up petition, issued by Stewarts Law, adjourned again earlier this week while the consortium headed up by Justin Rees have yet to officially take control.
But Maher is already hard at work to ensure everything is in place for the Shrimpers to be as successful as possible on the pitch next term.
"We’re busy planning and getting everything done for when we come back," said Maher.

"There’s still stuff going on with the club but we’re planning as normal behind the scenes to get the structures in place we feel we need to have a successful season.
"We're doing everything we can."
Maher has held talks with the players already in his squad but there is not too much to be decided.
Blues have options on Gus Scott-Morriss, Callum Powell, Wes Fonguck and Jack Wood meaning player coaches David Martin and Jason Demetriou are the only ones officially out of contract this summer.

But Maher remains in discussions.
"There’s not loads to do in terms of release and retain," said the Blues boss.
"We’re trying to tie up the last few bits but we’ve got options on most of the players and we’re talking to them all."
The Shrimpers are also in talks with potential new signings.
But Maher does not expect to be making too many summer signings.
"It’s ongoing," said the 47-year-old.
"We’ve spoken to a number of people. I can’t see us adding loads of players and we want to keep the quality high.
"We don’t feel like we need to add loads but we’re working on that in the background too."
Blues' players will report back for pre-season at the start of June.
And a number of pre-season games, against a mixture of opponents, have already been organised.
"The majority of it is done but we're just waiting on one or two," added Maher.

Really? Start of June?

Find it mad that we cant/havent announced who the friendlies are against that are arranged. Last year we found out from other teams websites most the time.

By giving him such an easy ride in the last 6 months.. yes we are
I get that you reckon we should be chasing the bloke down now, and you may be right, but ShrimperZone is not, and never has been, the centre for the call to go out for protests. That has come from the Protest Group twitter page, and for the moment there is nothing coming out of there. The other avenue is Save our Southend/The Trust, and that too is quiet. Protesting is a choice, I've done it at Benfleet a fair bit of late, but that has been because I've read the organisers asking us to protest and answered the call. Bashing SZ members will achieve sweet **** all as a group, as it is individual choice.

From what I remember of the time we got docked the dreaded 10 points following WUP ?No 18, am I right in thinking N Power were reported as owed about the same as HMRC i,e, around £250K.
Did they agree to subsequent stage payments so they are no longer appellants? or have we settled their debt in full

Were Emersons electricals ( reported as being owed around £600,000 ? ) settled in some way to , at least not to get up to WUPPING us again, > Did we pay off PG site services?

Anyone in the know, brave enough ,to be able to clarify this a bit more>? The Trust?

If Ron didnt pay up, or our Consortium, or a combination of both, or even CBRE, and the Council ( FAL- fall about lau.....) or even they all agreed to chip in would there still be others waiting in the wing to WUP us once again. Would there be any other possibilities to settle ?

i Would like to know, as a minimum ( wouldn't we all ) JUST HOW MUCH needs to be raised in total to settle or clear this debt ? and get this ongoing cruelty off our backs. Feel we should be entitled to a bit more info given the final deadline. and the rotten daily countdown
