Question What is making you happy today?

I am relieved that my husbands visa for America has finally come through after waiting 5 long days when we was told it would take a maximum of 72 hours. Mine came through within an hour so when his didn’t after 4 days I was panicking a little.
Thought I would be leaving him at home 😂as the time frame for a visa at the American Embassy was after our departure date.
Having tried to contact the Embassy etc was a task in itself so was happy when the ETSA came through

We've just started watching a film on Amazon Prime called Renegades, made in 2022. One of the lead actors is Lee Majors, who was 83 last year when the film was made. Looking at the sad old sod, Mrs RHB recognised him and commented ' A man barely alive, we can rebuild him'. It's a nostalgia thing as she always rated the bloke in his prime.

Lee is also great in Ash v Evil Dead

stephanie beacham (76) is also in the film and she looked older than Lee Majors.
She is a mate's aunty; as a youth in the 70s we stayed with her parents for a weeks holiday at a beach chalet hut at Dunster Beach, Somerset. Her family lived in Dunster below the castle. Super friendly folk. We went back there a couple of years ago and now they are passed away and buried in the church there. Iirc Steph also will be buried there when time comes, classy Lady.

Gave the Bucatini Restaurant a try tonight and was very pleasantly surprised. It's an Italian street food pasta trattoria and takeaway and well worth another visit, especially if you are on your way to the Cliffs Pavilion for a show as it's almost next door.

Had my Pneumonia jab today, & enquired about the Shingles one. I caught that in 87, when my youngest son who was 1 at the time had chicken pox. For some reason i thought you could only get it once, but the district nurse said you can catch it again.
She also said it was currently increasing in younger people, no one knows why?. Then added i'll have to wait until i'm 70 to be eligible for it on the NHS!.
Who decides what age you have to be to be eligible?. 65 plus for a pneumonia one, yet 70 for shingles??. Weird?.

Didn't realise it was still open?. Many people miss this pub, when driving to the Plough & Sail further down the road.
It hasn't been open for about 5 years. It had " new" owners who put up pictures of the Krays and were a bit odd. They closed it stating it was unprofitable and tried to get planning permission to turn it into a few houses and apartments. That was refused and so it was sold again. There seems to have been quite a bit of work going on, slowly, and now it seems it is going to re open. I hope so. The Plough is good but not dog friendly.

It is so out of the way it is going to have to be a destination food pub to survive.

The Salvation Army cafe at Hadleigh is set to reopen later this month after closure during the Covid lockdown. As previously, it will be staffed by adults with learning needs supported by SA staff. It's really pleasing to see this open again as the views are spectacular and a visit is always very rewarding.

Yes, it has some pleasant walks along the sea wall but little else over there.
The Royal Oak and Plough and Sail already have good food reputations, with Shepard and Dog being good for ales and live music. I understand that the Anchor at Canewdon is also touted as a good food pub; so the Punchbowl will need to be on top of it's game to survive.

Very clean wheel arches on our car! Driving back from Southend this afternoon we passed through multiple flooded crossroads and side roads following the rain. There's some sort of child like pleasure at splashing through a huge puddle!

Heard on the news that chickenpox was related to Shingles .That I kever knew.Had CP as a kid ,Shingles in my 20`s which IIRC was rather painful.Got the flu jab next Monday .Had an eye test this am .The joy of getting old. (Or as my wife helpfully says you're not getting old you are old.FWIW,it's true I'm two years older than her)!
