What is hacking you off today?

I'm talking about delivery drivers that leave the parcel on the doorstep all year around, so not just the busy Christmas period. I have no safe place as I live upstairs flat in a house, with next to no front garden. I have a large family next door one side where someone is always in, especially the mother who has health issues. Other side I have an elderly couple. The male never goes out, again due to health issues, but he always answers the door, and will ring me to say I have a parcel. So if they can be bothered, they can leave it safely with a neighbour. But no, about half of them will leave it at my front door, and take a photo. My front door takes two steps for a thief. I do the ebay ordering for a few OAPs that can't operate a laptop. If I was a delivery driver, there's no way I would not try a neighbour.
I forgot to mention that Royal Mail are not included in this. They are brilliant. They either leave with a neighbour, or they leave a card for me to pick up the parcel the next day at the Short Street Royal Mail centre. They never just dump on my doorstep.

I'm lost on the whole air fryer concept. An air fryer costs half as much as cooking in the oven, but if you need 5 to cook Christmas dinner that would mean it could be done in 2 and a half ovens??

Apparently "They work by blowing very hot air, at high speed, all around the food" Isn't that what a fan assisted oven does?

Kings new clothes if you ask me.

No, that's not quite how a fan assisted oven works. An air fryer is smaller and circulates the air much quicker. Therefore they're much quicker, much healthier and much cheaper to run than a conventional (even fan assisted oven). However, they're only cheaper if you already have one. If you have to shell out to buy one it'll take rather a long time for it to pay for itself.

We don't have one because there isn't enough room in our kitchen to leave it out. If it was in a cupboard it would become just another gadget we don't use

Anyone that bad mouths air fryers has never used one.

Air fryers / multi cookers, are great to cook certain things and if you’re cooking for one or two people. It’d take a long time to cook a roast dinner for six in an air fryer.

There are certain things that don’t cook so well in an air fryer, toad in the hole doesn’t work so well, soggy bottom.

That said I use my multi cooker a lot, from air frying, slow cooker, pressure cooker just so versatile.

Did my roast potatoes in the air fryer as I always do for roast dinners yesterday. It is a bit of a godsend having it when cooking a big meal or different meals for fussy people.

A dose of the lergy that is going round has flatterned me the second I have returned to work. My Contract Manager, ever the caring type (As in couldn't care less) has given me a night shift tonight so I can shake said lergy during the day. I am not feeling the love here.

We went to my sister's for lunch yesterday as she was ill when we had the Xmas family gathering. I had given her a very decent bottle of Malbec as part of her Xmas gifts and she decided that yesterday was the day for us to to drink it. So far so good, but she hadn't paid any attention to the bottle as she is not a big wine drinker, so when it came out of the fridge for the meal, having been in there for 3 says she said, it 'went oh so well, well chilled' with roast lamb!!

The postponement of SUFC v Halifax gave me no option other than to watch Espanyol's 1-1 draw with Leganes last night. It was a game that Espanyol playing one of their direct rivals for relegation badly needed to win but couldn't.What's certain is that the faithful (and there were 26,606 souls there lat night shouldn't really have to be watching this sort of stuff! While it's always good to see live fooball-my appetite for this fayre has decreased this season. Come to think of it must be a bit like watching Southend. :Winking:
