If it’s not racism it’s sexism that’s being smacked in our faces second article relating to this I’ve seen today:

https://www.thisisinsider.com/holly...beth-ii-and-the-queens-husband-respectively-9

The majority of the time the male actor is a massively established actor with a huge name hence the gap in pay. Nothing to do with the sex of the person.

If we are going on gender pay gaps then why do I get paid the same as a female who has an easier fitness test to do than me?

In your case because the female is a dog?

I think the question you need to ask yourself is why is the majority of the time the male actor a massively established actor with a huge name and the female actor isn't? Doesn't this strike you as odd? Surely there should be as many big name females as big name males meaning that it equals itself out? If your theory is right then Merryl Streep will have earnt more for the same film than all her male counterparts as who starred opposite her.

No the female is not a dog. I am no longer a dog handler.

Yep fair point but their argument has come off of the back of Michelle Williams (who?) working with Mark Walhberg and getting a lesser pay. That’s like Ben Coker saying he wants to be paid the same as Paul Pogba.

the same Mark Wahlberg from the Funky Bunch, the convicted racist?

hmmm

Not condoning what he did but that was all before he went into acting.

I’ve personally never heard of her and judging by a lot of comments on the article neither have a lot of other people.

I would argue that MW has been in far more impressive films than Marky Mark. Manchester by the Sea, The Station Agent, Brokeback Mountain...to name a few.

What has Wahlberg done bar the usual run of the mill action/comedy mainstream shlock?

Deepwater Horizon, Lone Survivor and Patriots Day.

All true stories and very well depicted! Unfortunately these sorts of greats don’t get a look in when it comes to Oscars.

You don’t like Queen your opinion is invalid anyway.

Ok, I'm a film snob granted. The films you mentioned starring Mark W may be entertaining (for some!) but they can in no way be considered great or should be Oscar material (though that means nothing).

I can't believe we're having this argument anyway. It is sexist to pay women less for doing the same job. It is not sexist to give them different fitness tests.

Suppose we will just have to agree to disagree. The films you mentioned are nothing that would overly interest me. Most of Wahlberg’s films do, Pain & Gain, The Departed, Shooter etc, all brilliant films to watch and I could happily watch. He is a huge name though with his directing, his acting and his other ventures including his restaurants and he has big shares in the UFC.

I cycle to work everyday. Fortunately I don't have to use the roads that much (we have a lot of cycle "redways") but they don't cover everywhere. The residents of MK are pretty decent bunch and often allow me to cross or wait for a big enough gap but even then you get the bellends to try to squeeze past or pull out without looking and/or caring, cut you up at a roundabout (we have a few) and acting like total ****ends. Neither side is blameless (ie, cyclists without lights in winter) but the car/van/lorry driver is obviously far more protected than us cyclists and on balance I've had more issues with car drivers as a cyclist than the other way around.

However would I cycle in central London? **** no.

As with everything in life, you’ll get your good ones & you’ll inevitably get your bad ones. Rightly or wrongly, the bad ones will always overshadow the good ones, as they are more memorable.

Those who know London well, will know what I mean, when I say the Vauxhall Cross section, right opposite the MI6 building, is a death trap.

But as you say, car drivers can be just as bad. Uber drivers in Prius’ are normally some of the worst ****s on the road.

I actually tend to find HGV’s & Lorry drivers in London, tend to be quite considerate on the whole.

Ok, I’m going to leave it there.

We definitely do. The only one I've seen of them is The Departed. He's good in Boogie Nights, though I'm not massively a fan of the film.

Film soundtracks. Why is the spoken dialogue so quiet and the music and sound effects so deafeningly loud?

Ah, ok.

It's not like Coker saying he wants to be paid the same as Pogba. Last time I checked they weren't team mates. Williams and Wahlberg were on the same film. It's like Coker saying he wants to be paid the same as Michael Kightly.

And the differences are stark: Williams was paid less than £1,000 for what Wahlberg was paid £1.5m for. How is that justifiable?

Mark Wahlberg has one best actor and one best supporting actor nomination. Michelle Williams has two best actress and two best supporting actress nominations. Objectively she is twice as good as Wahlberg, a man now best known for his laughably pretentious daily schedule than for his acting.

Poor comparison and poor knowledge from me, I’ll retreat to my box of knowing **** all. :Takethat:
