the OED lists examples of using "medal" as a verb as long ago as Byron, in 1822: "He was medalled." And this is Thackeray, writing in the mid-19th century: "He went home medalled by the King."

Language evolves, of course.

But 'medalled' is just ugly.

My rule of thumb has always been four floors. Any more than that and I take the lift.

Exception was working in Spain - no-one in their right mind walks up four flights of stairs in the Madrid summer
!

Or in Barcelona.

I made sure I got a lift key when I started an intensive course in July on the second floor.

Mind you, partially rupturing my achilles tendon a couple of years back gives me a good excuse.

The re-tarmac of Roots Hall cark park. Nice enough when you turn into it, but why not do the bit where the shop parking is. You are a tightwad Ron, or is it done just for your car's drive to the entrance. It's still like a bomb zone near the shop.

That is my local, however I was in the exchange for the majority of my evening last night. and Thank you.

Any comment on the fact that whenever I've been there recentlY, (not often I admit), it seems to be zoned, ie BAME drinkers in the public bar and whites in the Saloon?

August in Barna.

Apart from the fact that it's unbearably hot,we had tickets for a Peter King concert last night, that was cancelled at the last minute.

Not only that, wanted to see Miles Ahead yesterday afternoon. Not only was the session also cancelled (and I'd checked in El Pais and online earlier in the day and no info) but the second film on my list, Prawn Sacrifice, had been switched from the nearby sister cinema to replace it,without any prior notice, on its opening day.
