What have you watched on TV?

Watching the American version of THE KILLING on Channel4.Good but nowehere near as good as the brilliant Danish series

Been watching quite a bit of the Art Revealed season on the BBC. The World's Most Expensive Paintings was very interesting viewing, the documentaries on Sir Peter Blake & Peter Howson were very good and the series on the Impressionists that started on Saturday night has got me interested in a style of art that I'd never really been grabbed by before.

Good work by the Beeb.

Re: The Killing. A programme that initially was sparkling has become as turgid as the Seattle weather itself. It's so incredibly formulaic - a cliff hanger in the last 2 mins that's quickly resolved in the first 5 of the next episode and - nothing else happens! It's so glaringly obvious that the political edge has something to do with it, as why would they bother to show it week after week?

One for the dustbin I think. Hope the Scandanavian version was better.

I thought the Danish one was a bit hard going, because it's subtitled you have to pay attention whereas it's pretty slow and more 'background telly' that doesn't require your full attention. still ok though.

Watched the top 50 defining moments in Hip Hop history last night on C4 and it was damn fine.

I enjoyed it, but I thought it could have been so much better. With the stellar contributors they had, there might have been a bit more ambition - perhaps three hour long programmes giving us a real history of hip-hop rather than an arbitrary countdown of ill-defined 'moments'.

And "21 Seconds" by So Solid Crew being ranked above "Rapper's Delight"? I was so shocked I nearly choked on my glass of Cristal.

Still, it was good fun overall and has certainly dictated my iPod playlist over the last few days (I'm on "Buddy" by De La Soul Feat. The Jungle Brothers at the moment)

and Monie Love, Queen Latifah, and Q-Tip, and Phife Dawg....excellent song - 1989!!!

An American: The Bill Hicks story on BBC4. Brilliant "animated" documentary about his short life. I was aware of him and his reputation, but never really seen any of his comedy. When sober, Hicks was a genius - sadly missed. How we could do with him around today.
