It's not looking good, the way we have played in the friendly matches, we need a decent striker so bad, it's been very, very slow. I hope he is not putting all his eggs in the 1 hunt basket, it's dragging on. And as for the hungry, pacey Williams..... No thanks.

A colleague was perusing the Liverpool Forum, and mentioned to me about Samed Yesil.
Seems to be a good forward. having just come back from a major injury, needs some game time.
What about us trying to bring him on loan for 6-12 months?

Some quotes from the forum (http://forums.liverpoolfc.com/threads/376027-Samed-Yesil):
Proper goalscorer, needs games after serious injuries though. Would do well to get a move to the lower leagues where he may really find some form. Seems a waste in the academy right now, even though hes building up his fitness.

He has had a good pre season so far with the U21 sides, scored a good amount of goals with luck those injuries can be put behind him. A season loan would do him good.

He is definitely a goalscorer.. we got to give him time.

Apparently talks with Thompson have stalled and a Championship player who can play centre back or right back is likely to sign on loan before Fleetwood.

Thompson would be a big loss. At his age he will only improve, could be a very sellable asset in the future.

Source?

What about the lad from Spurs we were supposed to be interested in?

Very poor if we let Thompson go; one of our most promising defenders also an area where we are short of cover and looking at a loan replacement; awful decision.

I tell you what, forget about offering Deegan a contract, as midfield isn't an area we are struggling in and let's face it, he won't be the first choice in this area and use some of that to offer Thompson a better deal!!!

I think the Thompson situation (both that he is injured and not signed) will see a loanee defender come in and we may well see a loanee striker come in as well ............ hopefully just to cover until Pig decides he can't live without us!

Whatever your opinion of him, he was totally entertaining! It was rare you'd give him 6/10 - either 9.5 or 1 !

I agree that he was entertaining, and at his best he had me as his no1 fan. But the bottom line was he was a train crash waiting to happen and there is no place for that in FL1 I'm afraid. I do sometimes wonder how he would have got on at West Ham if Ron hadn't been a prat on the sales front.

At least if Thompson leaves we'll get a fee for him. I understand it isn't his first serious shoulder injury so I would have concerns about giving him a large/long deal as that could be a chronic problem area for him.

In tomorrow's Echo, why a loan deal for a defender could be in doubt & how contract talks have stalled with a player.
