It would be strange considering Piggot, but is Zak Ansah still available???? I also think the defender we were looking at is from Ipswich.

I think Ansah is still available and as far as I'm aware he wasn't given a squad number when Charlton released their numbers the other day leading some of their fans to suggest he could be on his way out.

I think that's another point a lot of us are forgetting the premiere league have not announced their 25 man squads yet, so players then will start filtering down the leagues.

Brown is still saying we are short of 3 or more players with 4 days to new season kick off.

That's because we are. We can kick off and hold our own with what we have, the quality is there, but we need more for the squad when the injuries and form loss happens.

Brown speaking to another striker and fingers crossed on a championship defender. Let's hope so., still all a bit late in the day but we did the same last year and got promoted. . I've looked at half the league clubs currently and we have the smallest squad of them all. Loads of travel for us to do , which may also impact , as well as injuries. Only 5 senior defenders is very risky and just 2 senior strikers!
Looking at some comparisons, Shrewsbury boast 8 strikers in their squad of 26 ( us 18 ) they brought in 8 players during the summer.. Wigan look strong with 5 strikers in a squad of 25. Sheffield Utd 4 strikers in 20 squad, Swindon 4 in 20, scunthorpe 7 strikers in squad of 24, also managed to bring in 8 players during summer . I just looked alphabetically at clubs from S to W out if interest to compare

Where do you get the 8 strikers from for Shrewsbury? Wiki suggests 5 (1 on loan from Wolves), Soccerbase 6 (including a youth).

Remenber a lot of clubs have bigger gates, for every 1000 fans at say £25 a ticket....£25000 each time, plus all the food and other stuff......bigger budget.....and that's just 1000 fans more, look at the gates at Sheffield U, they averaged 19805 !!!!!!! Wow. Colchester 3886.....Colchester are backed we know, they pay highish wages.

Not anymore they don't. Cowling's reined in their spending recently, which has funnily enough coincided with their slide into relegation scraps.

Surely this should of been done ages ago! Inevitable Dan would be leaving at some point soon!

It probably was, but appears to suggest and weigh more than he will be off sooner rather than later, I personally think that we have told Hull and QPR what we want and they are just putting together a package that suits all parties. I think it will be an inital 1mil up front with add ons totalling another mill so 2 mill with a sell on clause as well. I think 1 clause will be similar to Joe Hart in that if he plays for England we get £250k or x amount what ever is agreed.

I think the clauses will be quite complex, and this will be the stumbling block with the negotiations.

Correct Robbie is subsidising the club less and less to the point where in a couple of seasons we will have to be totally self sufficient. He has spent a lot of money on the two training facilities and youth set up but he will recoup that outlay with the few hundred houses he intends to build in Tiptree!
