Take both these signings, would be a good start to get these two in. Does anyone know how Wordsworth did at Crawley last season?

I've seen a few tweets from Oldham fans saying they think they are about to sign Jake Cassidy. Anyone else heard anything on this? He also tweeted 'Things are looking good'.. Maybe a sign he is close to signing for someone.

Yet some reports out of Ipswich suggest he did ok, just struggled with injuries. Try not to take too much notice of fans views from players old clubs as they are a majority of time negative. There were plenty of Col Utd fans who slated in particular Coker and in some cases White, both of whom have been excellent during their time with us
Scored 13 3 years ago which is a decent return, then 21 which is very good. Only got 9 last season but Orient were a mess.
We arent going to get many strikers we can bring in with records of scoring more than 40 goals in 3 seasons.
Anthony is a very good player on his day but those good days can be few and far between. He came up through our youth system and spent 8 years at Colchester playing about 180 games. He would link up well with John White because they played a lot of games together, he was never going to fit in at Ipswich with Mick McCarthy he doesn't work hard enough.
I'd be more than happy with both. Wordsworth was always a pain in the backside when we played Col Ewe, and we need more creativity in midfield. Freekick specialist too.
Wordsworth does sound like exactly the player we should be going for. Would be delighted if we got him. Really hope Brown can pull this one off.Cheers, found this aswel http://www.crawleynews.co.uk/Losing...Crawley-Town/story-26435287-detail/story.html
Must of done very well for them I'll be very happy if we can get him signed.

The last I read was that Freedman wanted to look at him in pre season before making any decisions, so guess we are waiting on ForestAll gone quiet on the Stephen McLaughlin front, thought Brown was in for him. Anyone heard anything?

Can be catch 22 as well. You end up choosing from a pool of players no- one wants. There is going to be a bit of that going on .......... which is why I do not see a need for Southend to "panic buy" the first players that come along. Wait a little longer and we might just get some good quality trialists suddenly appearing looking for a new club.
If that's what it takes to get him here, I'm not sure he's the sort of player I want.

Heard the same too. Would be happy with McLaughlin signing as then we would have 2 wingers who can put in a quality cross. If we don't get him then I'd still like us to sign a winger, Weston seems best as an impact player and will have to prove himself and Hurst needs to prove himself after a poor season and he isn't young.
Personally, I'd like us to try and go for Max Power from Tranmere. Contract is running out, but as he turned down a new deal he might require a fee. Only 21 and with over 100 appearances and being club captain last season, he has the maturity. Look at his stats for last season and 13 goals and 7 assists, for a team which some described as the worst to visit Roots Hall, is very impressive, especially as he isn't their penalty taker.
Another is Kyle Dempsey, but has another year on his contract and could be out of our price range, from Carlisle. In his first full season managed 11 goals and 10 assists which is again quite impressive for a 19 year old breaking into the first team. He looks quite versatile so he was played as a right winger, left winger, central midfielder, attacking midfielder and forward last season.
A risker, but much cheaper option, would be Omar Rowe who was recently released by Southampton. Could be a good idea to bring several triallists in before pre-season starts and give them a week to prove themselves, then we could assess these risky young players who have had little to no first team appearances. Worth remembering that the likes of Eastwood, Maher, Gower and Moussa were all released from Premiership teams with no first team appearances, so even if we only find 1 or 2 out of 10 who could make it then it will be worthwhile IMO.
