Wordsworth would be a very good signing but can't imagine him coming cheap. He's obviously relatively local which should count in our favour.

Mooney would also be a solid signing who should get between 12-15 goals a season at this level.

Fingers crossed on both of these.

Anthony is a very good player on his day but those good days can be few and far between. He came up through our youth system and spent 8 years at Colchester playing about 180 games. He would link up well with John White because they played a lot of games together, he was never going to fit in at Ipswich with Mick McCarthy he doesn't work hard enough.

Yet some reports out of Ipswich suggest he did ok, just struggled with injuries. Try not to take too much notice of fans views from players old clubs as they are a majority of time negative. There were plenty of Col Utd fans who slated in particular Coker and in some cases White, both of whom have been excellent during their time with us

Heard that one before

To me Mooney is a gamble really. Is he going to be able to score as many as he did in 2013/14 for the O's I don't think so.
Ideally I think we should be going for Pigott and other younger more mobile strikers to have a fighting chance of staying up

I'd imagine we'll be looking at more than 1 striker, and we certainly need at least one to have a bit of experience, and could certainly do worse than one who scored 20 two seasons ago, and around 10 for a team relegated last season.

Wordsworth would be a great signing and add a bit of creativity to midfield.

As said previously, it's been rare in the past for Brown to name a target who we've actually gone on to sign, so who knows, but these would be 2 very good signings in my opinion.

thought I was right.

[h=1]olchester United's Wordsworth plays party pooper in derby win[/h]

Anthony Wordsworth struck what proved to be Colchester United's winning goal in the Essex derby – and promptly spoilt his relatives' Christmas.
U's midfielder Wordsworth curled in a superb free-kick to put his side 2-0 up against Southend United at Roots Hall this afternoon.
And although Lee Barnard's header gave the Shrimpers hope late on, it was not enough for them to prevent Colchester claiming an impressive 2-1 win.
Wordsworth's auntie and cousins are season-ticket holders at Southend and watched their team lose to their near neighbours.
Wordsworth told the Gazette: “My family were at the game and they're Southend fans.
“I don't think they will be very happy with me scoring against their team – it might be that I don't get any Christmas presents from them now!
“It feels good to have won.

I'd hope Mooney, if he joins, won't be our only striker signing. In any case, he's quite a mobile player with a bit of pace if I remember rightly. He's 6ft 2ins but he's certainly no targetman.

Don't know about that but he certainly likes playing against us. He's scored four in the last four derby matches and the last three goals they've scored against us have all been by him.

He takes a very good free kick too, which is something we lack at the moment.

Ben Coker no?

He wouldn't be, Brown says he wants 3 strikers.

No, not last season anyway. Our set-pieces were awful all year.

Agree with this, also partly due to Hurst not playing as much. Hurst arguably is the best crosser / set piece player we have. Unfortunately due to fitness or bad form he didnt feature much. Hoping he can find some form this season

I've seen a few tweets from Oldham fans saying they think they are about to sign Jake Cassidy. Anyone else heard anything on this? He also tweeted 'Things are looking good'.. Maybe a sign he is close to signing for someone.

It would be really good to see Hurst back to his best. It would be like signing a new player given his time out.

There were one or two that weren't too shabby:
