Andy Williams, played for Swindon (not quite local), has joined Doncaster,

Mooney has had one good season in a number of years, id be disappointed if we signed him. I remember him against us Home and Away in the LDV he was awful if he was a decent striker Orient would have beat us by a good number of goals both nights!
Why does it have to be Col Ewe or Orient players in people thoughts on here! There was a lot of players in League One last year that have been released

Scored 13 3 years ago which is a decent return, then 21 which is very good. Only got 9 last season but Orient were a mess.

We arent going to get many strikers we can bring in with records of scoring more than 40 goals in 3 seasons.

Stephen Dobbie scored 4 in 27 for Fleetwood last season.. Surely we can do better than that?

Technically he is a very good player though. It wasn't so long ago that he was the standout player in the championship. I think he could prove very useful, and he's a number 10 and not a striker like some am have suggested.

And it's all about what formation you play, what striking partner is there and how attacking is the midfield for example. Goals are nice (necessary actually) but there is more than that to a player's game.

I think this is a big decision for Brown. Does he want to stick with 4-4-2 and try to look for a good partnership and strikers who can play alongside each other well or does he prioritise the kind of strikers who fit his preferred 4-5-1 and can play up top on their own. Predict it'll be a bit of both but given a completely clean slate he's got the opportunity to really make it his own.

I might be wrong, but I don't think he was playing as a striker for Fleetwood, he was playing in midfield. He was a very good striker when he left Scotland and in some ways he was unlucky in that his clubs (Swansea and Palace) spent money to kick on and left him surplus to requirements (let's not forget both of them have gone on to do well in the Prem).

He's not Premiership class, but if he's anything like the player he was when at QOTS, Swansea and Blackpool he'd be a great signing at this level.

I just wish it was Tommy Mooney....

Just been reading a bit about what Justin Edinburgh saying in local press. Gills desperate to sign up Egan as Championship clubs poking around, it looks as though Cody Mc Donald wont be coming our way.
I noted Justin strongly indicated the importance of having 4 STRIKERS in this league and is currently trying to get their fourth in.
Overall to get us up to last years squad we need to bring in about 8 players to strengthen, ( Brown says 5 or 6) Yes I am aware of the cash issue and maybe we will drop to mid table as far as payers goes, But at one point with loaness we got up towards 28 players, which folks on here rightly and generally thought was too many. Another 8 still leaves us short of that number even if we allow for in house players yet to sign. Discount Williams for the moment and 4 of the newcomers should be strikers, but dont hold your breath as we have a had such success with a plethora of coaches at the club with such a defensive mindset and culture it seems unlikely, but would be nice to be wrong

We don't need 28 players and certainly don't need four strikers plus Williams. 23/23 players plus loans if needed is fine.

Indeed, and no senior striker is going to sign if we already have 3 on the books.
