Interesting that Barrett says in the Echo that he's had offers from other clubs, would be wrong to see him go elsewhere before retiring after coming back. Suppose they'll be L2 but still frustrating that the club aren't moving quicker.

Wasn't Barrett on a course and PB went to meet him??

Doesn't that show intent??

We have indicated that we want him to stay , isn't that moving quick enough .... ???

We don't know what is going on behind the scenes , until we do , its just guess work??

To me it only confirms we were not fussed about Corr. He moved fast to secure Lenny, Bentley and Hurst who we saw as key well before we got to this stage.

I am confused why we let Timlin run down as we have but as I said and I was told by someone that speak to Phil almost weekly we weren't convinced BBBC could cut it at L1 hence why we made not that much effort to keep him by his own admission.

Had we released him then it would have been bad PR. We made him a token offer and he said no thanks. Think you will find this might be the case with a couple of the others that are in the same boat
.

Your first point about Corr is probably valid...if we'd wanted to build the team round him again next year, we'd have sorted it by now - I suspect PB already has ideas about who he can get in for next year. However with the greatest respect, your last comment is utter gash...there is no way in any scenario whatsoever, we would offer a contract (token or otherwise) to a player we didn't want to keep.

How much quicker do we need to move? If we've offered him a contract and he's mulling it over along with some other offers what more can we do? How do we know the ball isn't currently in his court?

The Echo claims we haven't made an offer. He's had discussions with Brown about his future and a possible coaching role but no offer has been made, the only formal offers he's had are from other clubs. Any other player wouldn't want to wait around for us to get around to making an offer but I'm not sure that taking advantage of AB's desire to stay is the best way to go about things.

Would like to see AB stay for one more season, but it looks like he has had offers elsewhere, and only I would like you to stay from Southend. Of course I don't no what is happening behind the scenes, but if we really want him to stay, make the guy an offer, or its BC all over again.

Wishful thinking, but would love to see us sign the two Murphy boys from Norwich. Josh as a striker and Jacob as a winger, as they are two positions we definitely need to make signings in. Now that Norwich have gone up, their path to the first team will have just got a whole lot tougher so could well be allowed a move away.

Jacob we could maybe get on a permanent deal, but I imagine they'd only want to loan Josh. I think both of them have a year left on their deals though so a fee will be necessary unless they allow them to join for free, which probably rules out permanent deals. Either way we've got a good relationship with Norwich and I think at least a double loan deal for the pair of them would be great business for us.

With the exception of, say, Cassidy (I know, he cant score) I wouldn't be overly fussed about getting back any of our previous loanees. None of the Norwich boys really did it for me. I would prefer new stock we haven't seen before. There have been a lot of names bandied about on this thread, but it is difficult to get really worked up here for me, until I know who PB and Co have on their wanted list (and I realise I may never know the full list).

I would agree with the above in respect of Loza, but not the two Murphy's. We've only had Jacob on loan and he wasn't awful, but also didn't set the world alight. Since then he most recently had a loan spell in a poor, struggling Col Ewe side and scored 4 from 11 starts on the wing in League One. That's pretty impressive.

As for Josh, he's a regular scorer in the under-21's and is supposed to be better than his brother. Would jump at the chance of getting the pair of them in.

I sort of agree with you on Jacob, but I though he got muscled off the ball a bit too much. As for his bro, well he would come under my 'new stock' heading and would be welcome if he adds to the party. I would also like an experienced goal scoring Div1/Championship forward please Phil, it's not asking for much is it?

Josh was out on loan at Wigan at the end of the season and had been in and around the first team until Christmas so I'd expect they'll be looking to get him out to a Championship team again.

Wasn't massively impressed by Jacob when he was here but seems to have done well at Colchester last season so would definitely be worth looking at again.

Didn't actually realise Josh had been out on loan. He didn't get into Norwich's Championship side and also struggled to get a start in Wigan's relegation side, so we could be in with a shout of a season long loan I would hope. Would make sense to let him have a season in League One to get him a good run of games and hopefully score some goals at senior level to get his confidence up.

Well worth enquiring about the pair, as I think they'd help each other settle if they come together and Jacob will already know a lot of the staff and players.

didnt one of them get in hot water over a tweet whilst on loan at blackpool ? Something about "on our way to lose again" another loanee got dragged into just by being in the picture

Yep that was Jacob the one we had on loan.

I wonder where we will sit in League 1 in terms of salaries we pay and whether we will drop into the bottom half of payers? That will affect our capacity to bring people in other than the aged , young kids stepping up, or players on loan?
Looking at 3 different sources the average pay at League 1 level seems to step up to between £1700 - £2500 from £1300 - £1,500 in league 2. Other sources suggests £67, 850 instead of £49,600 , although both figures seem high? Where's Shaun Goater when you need him? and Cambridge must have come up with some offer to BBBC?
Joking aside 25 players on just £ 300 more than what we normally pay would be an extra £7500 p.week? Food for thought or carp figures, not sure!

you would be suprised, some div 2 players are on a lot less than the quoted figures .
